Gobavica

After a long time we visited Mengeška hut on Gobavica yesterday, which really brightened our day. In the forest we enjoyed the sight of liverleaf thriving on the slopes, and fewer crocuses and snowdrops giving the look that they're already saying goodbye for this spring. By the hut, which was open, you can see horses, small black piglets, noisy little roosters, small hens, goats with little kids and a nice gray kitty. For extra kids' fun they have a playground with swings too, so bring your children or grandkids on a spring walk where you can also stretch on trim devices, if you have enough strength and will.velik nasmeh
From parking under Gobavica to the hut is half an hour's walk - stroll.

After yesterday's wandering in the autumn idyll, it seemed a shame not to use some sun rays that peeked from behind the clouds briefly in the morning and to catch some more autumn colors before the forecasted rain finally knocks the leaves off the trees. On lower hills autumn is still in full swing and quickly I managed to get a hiking companion (already used to us getting a bit wet on joint paths) for a somewhat longer walk to the Mengeška hut on Gobavica.

From the village Suhadole to the mličnki, onward over Strmec (not named that for nothing!) to Koseški hrib, continuation (actually back) to Pleše and through the forest (a bit our own way) to the Mengeška hut. For the return we chose only the first part through the forest, the other peaks no longer tempted us, so we took the road instead.

In the end it added up to several hours of walking, with one longer stop at the hut, of course we got a bit wet in between, rain started already on Koseški hrib, but the air was so warm that the rain didn't bother at all, plus most of the path is through the forest and the trees haven't dropped all the leaves yet.

Paths are marked and signposted, just a bit of attention needed when following them, because there are many other (forest drives etc.) forest paths in between.
Conditions as befits the weather, muddy. But nothing worse… mežikanje

Thanks to both! I'll learn something new and find out what all grows in our parts.
I'm not a mushroomer myself and they're interesting to me only for colors, shapes... nasmeh

Finally the time has come when days are long enough to "recharge batteries" on forest paths even during the week, of course mainly local ones. My forest variant from home to Gobavica is one of those, just the right length to forget daily troubles. mežikanje

Generally up here it's not very welcome to write about local hills, because locals know all about conditions, those farther away (mostly) don't go on trips to hills that can't boast their height, even though a combination of several local hills can be a nice full-day trip. But let's leave that. Since height or length aren't important. Important is that yesterday at day's end everything was glowing and it was a pleasure to admire all shades of red and treat yourself to a snowball instead of tea. Remember someone else who would enjoy this too… and for "my" ones mežikanje I'm attaching two (sadly, phone) pics (with greetings)… and wish all others a nice day too! nasmeh

About conditions – yeah, snow is melting and paths are muddy accordingly. But – forget the mud, rather visit your local hill and enjoy! nasmeh

After days of "50 shades of red", they served us some winter idyll again. Snow covered the mud and you feel it's there only when feet dance a bit in the twist rhythm.nasmeh That's about conditions, since snow on such paths isn't an obstacle but pure pleasure.

And pleasure it was to trudge through untouched white, feel snowflakes on face and soak in the forest peace, which is special when snowing. Firs decided for "snowball" game and hit me behind the neck several times, but what when I don't always see theirs, let alone return a snowball. And I'm sure they'd return with multiple dose. Anyway, pure pleasure on fresh snow white till dusk and since yesterday it wasn't crowded at all, on return I met a group of roe deer. Taking off gloves and searching camera in pocket are already quite delaying in such cases… and then that betraying camera sound when turning on… and they were gone. Yeah, best things stay "recorded" somewhere there… mežikanje

Today's visit to Mengeška hut was a real jump into blooming spring, shown in masses of snowdrops, crocuses, liverleaf and of course young kids jumping behind the fence at the hut. On return we ran into a roe deer that curiously watched us. Paths are of course muddy, but let that not deter you from visiting Gobavica. Views to KSA peaks excited us so much that we went to see them closer.
We drove to Kamniška Bistrica and continued to Žagana peč. There it's still real winter. Some ice grains even flew from dark clouds that gathered above us during the visit. We were delighted by meeting a herd of mouflons, which was later spoiled by an echo of a shot, probably hunter's gun, which really angered and saddened us.jezen

PS: unfortunately we had no camera with us.mrk pogled

Forest gets new attire,
beech already partly covers the sun.
Wild cherry blooms, adorns nature,
behind them in mountains snow melts.
Walk on spring Gobavica
is like a fairy tale for us.
Flowers change in colors
currently blue prevails.
Occasionally plane noise disturbs us
like we disturb the roe deer on the path.

I suggest you park at the kindergarten, right after you turn onto the road towards Gobavica. Why push all the way to the foot of the hill and disturb other walkers. I won't even mention those who drive straight to the top. Paths to Mengeška hut lead from various ends. From Mengeš there are two main ones: the first, quite steep, leads straight to the top via the shortest path, the second is a trim trail, which is gentler and takes us around the hill slowly to the top and then back to the valley. On the trim trail you can also exercise while walking. Our trim trail has 25 stations with various exercises.

But beware – on the path from the suggested parking lot, a surprise awaits you. You get the feeling you've come to some kind of animal farm in the middle of a dump of worn-out machines, car tires, branches and building materials ...

Goats, cows, horses and probably I missed some animal. You really don't know whether to be amazed, laugh, cry or something fourth. You certainly won't find anything like this in Slovenia.

A couple of today's impressions (since there hasn't been a post for a long time)... despite the mud and a few raindrops, it was really nice to walk among the spring flowers, which, as every spring, are really plentiful up here... mežikanje
