On Saturday we were on Goli vrh (from Jezersko). Up the Slovenian side, down the Austrian side (though IMO the Slovenian path is better), very few hikers, wonderful weather and views. Up 2 hours, on top also 2 hours and down 1.5 hours. Great and not tiring trip. Recommended.nasmeh

In current conditions a very rewarding mountain.
Of course also generally. nasmeh
Exceptional viewpoint!
Drove by car past Planšarsko jezero to Ravensko Kočno, but turned at last farm (Ancelj). Just below it on the right small 'parking' that fits only four vehicles (occupied this time). Road otherwise plowed one car wide. Drove back to lake and started from there. Walk on dry road to Ancelj took just over fifteen minutes. nasmeh
Deep track excellently trodden all the way to summit of Goli vrh. Maybe less comfortable only from Jenkove planina to summit ('churned up'). Snow completely untouched, but dense trees ...
At top quite sorry didn't choose skis. But still more than nice. Fantastic views, warm spring sun ... if health fully in order, it would be kitschy. mežikanje

On descent older gentleman stopped me at Ancelj. In German asked about peaks up there. Listed them one by one, in thanks drove me to car with SUV. How do they say? Kind word finds kind place ... nasmeh

Best regards.

Since the forecast promised clouding from the west, today we headed a bit more toward the east, but it didn't help much for nice views. We drove to Jezersko, precisely into the valley of Ravenske Kočne, whose ambiance enchants us again and again. For now still need to park before Ancljeva homestead, as dozens of meters ahead the road is still snowy and icy, passable only with an SUV. At the signposts where it steepens uphill, the path through the forest is completely dry all the way to where it first flattens a bit. From there on, abruptly snowy again. To Jenkove planina the snow is quite firm and mostly "holds", from the planina onward softened and sinking in. The summit itself practically bare again. Before noon heavy clouds piled up, obscuring the otherwise wonderful views from the top. But no reason for bad mood - even in observing heavy dome-shaped clouds driven by the wind, one can find charm and enjoy the grandeur of nature.

This afternoon Goli vrh via Slovenian path from Jenkove planina. Be careful with snakes, as grass is very high, especially on the planina. Path steep, on top lots of insects. Views nice all the way to Storžič, Košuta, Ojstrica and Obirja. Regardsvelik nasmeh

The first trip of 2011 was to Goli vrh and the choice of goal was excellent. Nice weather, views all around and some people too. The path is in good condition, not much snow, a bit more from Jenkova planina onwards. From there the path through the forest is partly snowy and icy in places, so be careful, especially on the descent. Happy 2011 to all, above all safe and sober steps. nasmeh

On Sunday to Goli Vrh. Up the Austrian path from Jenkova planina, back the Slovenian path.
In between light drizzle, thunder over Kočna, about a minute before the car a heavy shower hit us. Still a nice trip. l.p.

Yesterday 10.2.2012 in cold conditions with Robert and touring skis ascent to Goli vrh. Lots of snow, fresh and windblown. Track beaten, partly windcrusted. Those on foot reported sinking deep over the knee. On top cold, wind, clouds, sun (bit of everything). On descent realized rocks hidden under snow.

On Wednesday 2 May with my girl to Goli vrh from starting point in Ravenska Kočna. Once views open on Jenkova planina you really feel the majesty of these parts. Don't even talk about summit views - super trip!

I parked a little before the Ancel farm, because I wasn't sure what the road to the parking lot was like. Actually, you can drive without problem to the Krničar Mountaineering Center. The forest road is passable, at least that day it was.

Thanks for the reply. We parked at the hunting lodge.
Almost no visitors, only one at the summit. Today's weather conditions in this area are still okay - a bit of everything, some sun, wind, southern snow, drifts ...
This Goli Vrh is a real knee-killer, especially from Jenkova planina onwards.nasmeh

Yesterday 24.12. we set off from shady and cold Ravenska Kočna towards Jenkova planina, where the sun was already nicely warming us. The view towards Goli Vrh promised nice vistas, as there was only blue sky above it. The path to Jenkova planina and also towards the summit was slightly icy in places, not much snow and it's melting quickly. Winter gear not necessary. The view from the top extended far around the sunlit mountains. It was nice.

Yesterday on Goli Vrh, wonderful sunny day with phenomenal visibility. The path is still under snow, mostly sinking a bit, but no big deal. On the summit also three skiers who are still using the snowy forests towards Ravenska Kočna.

Joste, what was the trail like on Friday? I know it probably snowed in between, but I'm interested if the path was icy and what the need for crampons is. We plan to go to Goli Vrh on Friday to celebrate the cultural holiday.

The trail was OK, not icy at all, towards the summit where it's quite steep it was a bit slippery, but more due to the worn path, not ice. Could have gone beside the path on full snow and no problem. Of course conditions can change a lot by Friday, as said last week the trail was no issue. I had crampons with me just in case, which I recommend to you too. Best regards and lots of mountain pleasures!
