Since I haven't been in the mountains for a while, I hiked up the highest and closest hill in the area for a short time today. I drove over Preval towards Dobrava and along the road leading to Katarina to the village Osredek 507m, where I park on the snow-covered bypass next to the road. Up from the village, left along the side road, all the way to the last weekend houses under the forest. Ahead of me was a steep slope of dense young spruces. Due to the already thick crust and fairly stable medium-light snow beneath it, I progressed quite well anyway. I come out exactly at the quarry onto the main road that goes to the village Belo, but I turn onto the established path towards Polh.Grmada. The path is excellently trampled by many hikers and it had already melted, so now it's icy in places. Covered with five cm of dry snow, which allows pleasant walking all the way to the top. In between I also detour to the lesser known Goljek, which is less walked, accessible from both directions of the trail (Under the quarry at the start or at the benches 20 min after it - trail Polh.Grmada). Up top it was well below zero, so beautiful snowy-icy landscape. Despite the fog I enjoyed walking through the whole snow without snowshoes! Lp-Rok

Just for info: Those pillars on Goljek are the remains of the foundations of a guard tower on the Italian-German border during World War II.

Probably right basist, though one mentioned they lit fires here in Turks' time too.

Thanks for suggestion Viharnik, real winter idyll. Added small sign with direction at first junction (quarry) on Goljek, hope no one minds...
