Yeah, I didn't find a companion to join!
Otherwise I didn't ask around much and just decided and went alone!
It was kind of a pity to be alone up there with such romance. It would be even nicer if some cool female hiker was with me nasmeh

Hey Cveto! Here hiker Meta, I asked you what the conditions are like for Grintovec, if you happen to know something? Would go from Suhadolnik (till where you drive with car) or also from Kamniška Bistrica. I tell you straight, on Sunday it was divine on Veliki Draški vrh, but on the way back it was sinking almost to the ass! BYE! nasmeh

Yesterday evening we quickly decided for a night hike to the roof - Grintovec. Started at the lower station of the cargo cableway to Kokrško sedlo at 22.30. Road to cargo cableway is quite torn up in places, so caution at the wheel is not superfluous. To the hut at Kokrško sedlo we needed one and a half hours and after a short stop (10 min) at the hut, another approx. two hours to the top of Grintovec (at 02.00). Conditions at the saddle were slightly windy, at the top not really, just a bit colder. The view was beautiful to Ljubljana, Kranj, Brnik, Škofja Loka ... million lights ... Descended in approximately three hours and 15 min. A unique tour that unfortunately was not destined for us in winter conditions.

On Wednesday I headed to Grintovec. Decided for night ascent, started just after 1am and reached summit at 4. Didn't meet anyone on the way smile

, clear sky and wonderful night view though. Decided for sunrise, took almost 3 hours for sun to fully rise. At 7 descended. Sunrise was magnificent, but in my opinion prettier in winter. Best regards and courage to those who'll do such feat.

Great solo ascent, no doubt, but I agree it's much nicer in winter, though harder to summit due to snow trudging. We tried but only made it to the saddle, further on there was gale-force wind, snow collapsing to..... We'll probably repeat the ascent this winter rolling

tradition not fully fulfilled. Three of us went again this year on night to Grintovec. Snow hard, snow flying down all way, cold wind above Kok. saddle, winter room completely buried. About 2h45 to Kok. saddle. After snack went on, but at Ovni cirque suddenly end for me. Simply couldn't anymore.:mad frowning

maybe haven't fully recovered from purulent tonsillitis) Turned back to hut and waited. They went to summit. At hut dug out snow (ca 0.5m) to hide inside. When dawned a bit and warmed up descended (told mates) on way snow slowly turning slushy. Met about 15 hikers on descent, don't know how many went beyond saddle. Mates said snow fairly hard and compact, view and sunrise wonderful. On descent cornices forming. Their pics coming. Best regards

Today the night ascent to Grintovec with Himalayan MK succeeded smile

. Started at 2am at cargo cableway (Kamniška Bistrica) and after about 15min forest walk already snow, path goes straight up scree now landslide and drags like chewing gum... but anyway after initial confusion on route arrived at Kokrsko sedlo in 2.40h. Already here crampons and ice axe recommended, though sinking nicely in places at that hour, but frozen solid elsewhere. Then to summit, halfway dawn starting. Reached summit at 7.09am. Despite wind not too cold, summit lit by sun, real reward. Left summit at 7.30am in valley at 11am, but tough and nasty as snow sinking already from summit descent and lower worse rolling

. But really beautiful day/morning cloudless, warm and sunny...super!

After full workday Saturday I went at night to Grintovec for sunrise. Live much nicer than pics. Path passable no issues, no need crampons or ice axe (had all just in case) Summit nice cold, chilly breeze and good hour enjoying. Worth the wait. Drink a bit frozen. On return stop at hut for refreshment, bit of sun and back....super and whole day left for something else smile
