Today we went with a colleague along the climbing path to Grmada and then on to Šmarna Gora. Short but still fun.

In this wind Šmarna Gora sometimes comes in handy and it's also the house mountain, next to Toško Čelo.
I head up from Tacen via Sp.Kuhinja, turn left and follow Mazijeva path further. This path, besides the climbing one, is undoubtedly the nicest approach to Grmada with extension to Šmarna Gora. The path is nicely routed over the southern slope of Grmada, a bit over stone boulders and narrow paths. At the top it joins Westrova path from Vikrč. If you want to go to Turnec and the climbing path, you can also cross from Mazijeva on an even more adrenaline-packed trail over steep slope sections. Up on the ridge at 600m it blows hard, even more above 650m. In between I got some short showers but they say a bit of rain from above is still healthy. On Šmarna Gora surprisingly little visitors, a few pairs of hikers, so I soon headed to the valley.
To all hill climbers and Hribi-net editors (Rok,Tadej...) I wish in the new year lively, cheerful, guiding spirit-heart, full of nice moments in mountains and nice Christmas New Year holidays, pleasantly spent among those especially dear to you.nasmeh

Today "higher power" prevented our family trip to Karavanke, though backpacks were already packed ready mrk pogled. So my older daughter and I settled for "eternal reserve option" - "šmarnogorska" Grmada. As usual we climbed up Mazijeva path, then down to saddle and on to Tacen. We very very rarely extend to Šmarna gora, because crowds and noise we don't like. Height was just right to peek over foggy sea nasmeh and given daughter's "pace" the "trip" was no trifling matter nasmeh.

Long promised ascent for kids to Šmarna gora we finally realized today. Path was nice, dry, only strong wind started to blow and KSA peaks in afternoon began dressing in gray clouds. Hike we did a bit also for promotion http://www.krka.si/sl/o-krki/druzbena-odgovornost/krkine-planinske-poti, also in such way wife and I try to motivate kids for movement in nature. LP Andrej

Andrej, did you get the stamp? Because when I motivated my offspring like that, no stamp in inn. Disappointment (kid of course :-)) was big, but we got only quite unfriendly reply that stamp someone took away and they can't draw special for us zmeden.

Enka,hi! Krka stamp is in wooden hut at cash desk, opposite the very entrance to inn! Anyway, as they told me at Krka today, photo in front of inn also counts. LP Andrej

Thanks, Andrej! We looked for the stamp everywhere, first of course there at the cash desk opposite the inn. And despite it saying that for Šmarna Gora a photo also counts, the two little ones wanted a stamp anyway. And they still say we don't have any yet... Eh, understand if you can zadrega. We will have to go up on some less crowded day, then it will be fine nasmeh.

Today's trip was shorter, but still nice and at the same time good trainingnasmeh. We climbed to Šmarna Gora via the demanding Pogačnik path over Grmada. The secured part is short and not too demanding for those used to heights. Not many people on Grmada, which was the total opposite of Šmarna Gora. Nice view of Ljubljana, Kamnik-Savinja Alps were in clouds. We also visited the painting exhibition, which was worth seeing. We returned via the path over the sands, before that also rang the wish bellvelik nasmeh Lp

Despite the late morning, I decide to go over Grmada to Šmarna. It's not that hot nasmeh. I park at Lipa, to my delight the barrier was up, I find out why on the way back - the ticket booth was smashed and they were screwing something on it jezik. Along the road towards Vikrče and the start of Westrova. After the first round of rocks, where the path turns slightly left and there's a small flat spot to look around, I spot a big rock to my right, with a mark on it, and wow, above the mark a snake eek. It was nicely lying on the sunny rock. Dark brown and black patterned, I'd say about 25 mm thick by eye. I stare at it for a few seconds pondering what to do, then the lady snake took the reins and started stretching her snout eek, so I quickly retreated back towards the valley! Yeah if not via Westrova, then via another nasmeh.

So from the start I continue on Kovačeva, then right onto Pot svobode and only where it joins Mazijeva I meet the first person nasmeh. On the whole way to the top of Grmada I meet just 3 people total, so all the more animal specimens, besides the mentioned snake also lizards and some mice, birds, not to mention flying bugs jezik

From Grmada I descend to the saddle and on to Šmarna, where human crowd could rival the animal one jezen, eh but it's always like that. After pleasant lounging on Šmarna's "beach" follows only the nice path Čez peske to the car.

Circumference on that body part I saw was about 25 mm nasmeh, not length mežikanje. It was coiled up, so don't know length, only saw the head later when it stretched it. Lower part was whitish, head more triangular.

From snake pics, I'd say it was an adder. Possible to meet one here?

On the climbing path, vipers like to sunbathe; this year there is apparently some hustle, so this one found a quieter rock mežikanje.

18.08.2012.

First time on Grmada. From Vikrče up the Pogačnikova path to the viewpoint and down the Westrova path. Great stuff... Next time I'll try to Šmarna Gora too, today no strength left.

On the doorstep of home, for a change with camera. Šmarna for the connoisseur offers not only the obligatory crowd at the top, but also quiet, demanding and steep ends where people don't bother. On Pogačnikova you rarely meet anyone, since hardly anyone goes down there, and anyway the steepness guarantees solitude which not everyone has. Over Grmada to Šmarna, which is a visited hut with good offer, and back down as chosen, this time over Zatrep. Not much altogether, but for this foggy wetness at least a taste of memories and wishes higher up. Hey, it's just fine! nasmeh

To not get home too early, after refueling at OMV I decide to also visit the nearby Šmarnogorska Grmada. Below to Kuhinja I almost drown in mud, higher up I turn to the good Mazijeva steza, which takes me along the ridge to the top. There on the bench I do some push-ups with individual gusts from SW and dance of rare snowflakes. I return to the valley along Westrova ridge path to guesthouse Kovač in Vikrče, since I didn't plan to get home like a poor pig. Followed the last piece of path along the road from Vikrče to Tacen, where I admired lots of snowdrops on meadows and dandelion lovers, who were already diligently picking it nasmeh. No pics, because I was still poorly equipped just in jeans and sneakers with cap and gloves velik nasmeh.
