A few days ago I set out for Gubno via Kurjekov. Very nice little path past Borovje and Planica, over the bridge and further easily followable, before the gully on pic 1 I was unsure where next - so asking for help/advice. Should I go down into the gully and up along/beside it? Left or right side? I first went a bit left up before the gully, but the path vanishes into brush after few steps. Turned back and continued straight up first along some torrent bed, then pathless cluttered slope between big gully right and impassable brush left. After ca. 150m gain turned back (around 1800-1850m height) (maybe just before marked path? Thanks much for any tip where usual approach goes from pic 1 on. best, v

Before one of the fallen gullies (if I remember right before second of those bit larger ones, from Kurjekov direction) path goes left into brush, but small crossings made and further nice along ridge to Gubno. Hard to say from pic if it's the gully on pic 1. Only know mentioned path exists, walked it two years ago. It branches left quite unnoticed before fully reaching gully, sort of at top of one steep climb. If helps check my post on previous page. According to maps there should also be path further over all gullies joining marked Erjavčev rovt - Kepa. Admit haven't walked it, can't speculate how that path is, but visible from bit farther

I think you started at the right place. As I recall pathlet soon disappears at start, ahead need to seek passages. Some over brush too, but no sweat. Kurjeki

Last time I walked mentioned path in 2018. Then path went through upper gully from pic 1 (see attached pic). Terrain in gully fallen, rock crumbly, caution needed. At top after gully exit path technically easy and again easier to follow. Don't know gully condition today or if passage on described path still possible.

From Gubno to Kepa, a few minutes off the marked path through pathless terrain, you can conquer Dovška Mala Kepa 2077m. Good luck

Big thanks to all for detailed explanations. Found the junction yesterday without problem. At the junction, I also set up/renewed a small cairn.

Yesterday to Gubno via Kurjeke. Whole path dry, snow starts only before last (nasty) gully - just before joining marked path from Erjavčev rovt. I stuck to the ridge and bypassed the gully by pushing through brush on the right. Intended Kepa but no track from Gubno onwards. Snowy is Gubno slope to notch (notch itself dunno) and last ascent to Kepa. Path below Dovška Mala Kepa looks dry. On return traversed also to Dovška Rožca - several short snow crossings, totally unproblematic.

Yesterday (Fri, Apr 12) from Mlince-Žakelj confluence via Kurjeke to Gubno, back on marked path. At Žakelj continued to branch for Kloma gorge, then straight on forest path to Stanič saddle. From there sharp left barely visible pathlet, first even slightly down, then steeply up sandy gully. But not long, soon turns left into brush, continues over crumbly sandy traverse above steep gully and ends at wooded Šija 2 saddle. From here friendly path with nice views and vistas mostly steeply up. Well followable, at notch about 100m above Šija 2, which could otherwise be tricky, there is even a solid wooden bridge. Years ago storm felled trees. Still see huge effort to clear passages of fallen giants, many very thick. From 1666m spot path mostly flat good half km. But soon after start again annoying crumbly traverse over steep gully, bit before end of flat another one. Followed sawn path out of curiosity to edge of wide broken gully where it vanishes. Need to cross gully and climb edge other side to reach continuation of traverse path towards Visoki Kurjek. From afar tried to gauge with eye where doable. Not quite sure, maybe left (upper) of two gullies. View higher up sowed doubt in this variant. Path to Gubno branches from traverse ca. 50m before gully (tiny cairn). In true Karawanks steep style then lunges another 150m knee-grinding up to near summit ridge where I lost it. Climbed another 50m ahead bit left but nothing clear. North side some snow in brush (annoying), right opened traverse over wider crumbly gully, fourth that day. Not to my liking. Descended few m below where saw last trimmed branches. In small tussle with brush won and reached gully where narrower easier passable, then up its right with brush help to edge (thanks Velocy!). There found decent passage through brush to grass steeply leading south ridge direction and few m more to marked path. Further to Gubno summit path fully dry. Clear weather, gorgeous day, somewhat hazy view to Julians across valley so pics of peaks there not focus today. But attach one anyway. Just to show still lots snow in Kot and Za Cmirom. Modrina neba p.s.: few posts back JanG described where traverse path crosses gully; upper gully.

j., short comment on your "loss" of the path. According to your track, after branching from the transverse path and climbing about 150 m in elevation, you continued straight or slightly right. At this point a path branches sharply left, goes about 50 m almost flat and brings you to the grassy slope, up which you climb. From here you can't miss it; at the top of this slope you find the path cut into the scree. Just before the top you cross another gully to the left (right at its top), then in a few minutes you reach the path below Gubno.
