Javorov vrh

This afternoon a bit above Preddvor towards Sv. Jakob, then to Potoška gora and Javorov vrh. Return to junction, then again to Sv. Jakob and Juhantova path back to start. Lots of trails, most dry, except higher some snow left but no issues.

Some photos from Saturday's trip from Preddvor to Jakob, from there over Baba to Javorov vrh. I descended past the shelter in Hudičev boršt to Mače and from there to Preddvor.
All hiked paths are normally passable.

Since I set off in the morning from Potoč past Jakob to Javorov vrh, most of the path was in fog and cold. Only Javorov vrh peeked out of the fog. Apparently it drizzled lightly yesterday afternoon and overnight, and with the dense fog, a real winter feel formed on the trees. Fog prevailed to the shelter in Hudičev boršt too. The path is completely dry and frozen. Right now as I write this, I see completely clear Kamnik-Savinja Alps through the window.

Today on a quite cold and windy morning to Čemšenik, then from there to Potoška gora and Javorov vrh. Actually first time to Javorov vrh from Čemšenik. Usually I go from Jakob or from Hudičev boršt. Above the hut on Čemšenik snow begins. It's only about a cm, but underneath there's ice in places. The path is initially quite steep. It's marked. In half an hour or so at the path junction. Here the path to Potoška gora branches left - 15 minutes there. The path from Jakob joins here too. Now another half hour to Javorov vrh. On Javorov vrh it was blowing quite strongly, increasing the cold feeling. But nice views. For descent I used microspikes.

Along the uphill path, the consequences of the ice storm are still present.

Little fresh snow. In the morning there was only my track.

The box with the summit logbook awaits us just below the summit on a beech.

There is significantly more snow on the summit.

Nearby Zaplata with the first summit Cjanovca.

I was really the first one up today, but not alone for long.

When going to Čemšnik, I always descend into the Čemšnik stream gorge on return - icy still life.

So yesterday after many years the time came for a revisit to Javorov vrh, although I wasn't sure if it would be trodden at all. And I wasn't much wrong. From sv. Jakob to the first path junction (viewpoint, Potoška gora) nicely trodden, further towards SE just some modest footprints. Javorov vrh, truly an unjustly neglected peak, offers a really interesting panorama, dominated by the view to Cijanovca with Srednji vrh, and Kočna with Grintovec is also very imposing. With a bit of effort I spot Triglav and neighbors too. I also found the Starca that was discussed on this forum.
Return via Potoška gora, stop at the hut at sv. Jakob, but no flancati there eek

Yesterday after a long time I visited Potoška gora and Javorov vrh. From Potoč to Jakob I ascended the longer variant with markings of the running Winter League on comfortable frozen ground. I realize it's been really long since I was up here, the hill is riddled with new roads, when the hut keeper Cveto still reigned it's already 20 years. After tea that costs only 1€, I continue towards Juretova Potoška gora. The trail is partly dry or frozen snow that doesn't sink. To the 160m higher Javorov vrh there's more snow, no wind, no clouds, so views from the bench on top were divine. I return over Mihčeva kopišča, sadly some huts are falling apart, others are real little masterpieces. I also visited the hut at Franci's, open only weekends, descended directly below it. The path is much shorter than ascent, sadly the sun softened the ground so I was muddy to the knees.
No hikers met except to the hut, but I was glad to meet Damjan at the parking lot, faithful visitor of Kališče.

Today was a nice spring-winter conditioning hike in the hills above Preddvor. Primary goal was actually Cjanovca, but due to circumstances the path ended a bit below the summit zavijanje z očmi

so the last peak conquered today was Javorov Peak.
Start at parking in Potoče, by retirement home, then past Senčnica Josipine Turnograjske and along marked path to mountain hut at Jakob. Path to here was still muddy and slippery in places due to recent rain.
Due to early hour path from Jakob to Potoška gora was frozen, at junction snow patches begin. They pose no problems, nor further to Javorov Peak, except in places sank to the knees nasmeh

on the summit nice snow cover, it was windy too, quite wintery.
From Javorov Peak path continued towards Cjanovca. At junction for Kališče, Cjanovca and Jakob(lower path) more serious snow starts. Path not trodden, so took my own along ridge and occasionally spotted mark nasmeh

Higher on ridge more snow, to knees, in drifts more. When reached clearing where scree starts, path gone, whole scree under snow. Searched a bit where to cross, but couldn't find right path through this "minefield", took break and back to Jakob. Lower path(below Javorov Peak and Potoška gora) not trodden. Shady parts lots of drifted snow, broke trail nicely, then past Jakob back to start.
Altogether 5 hours walking, spring and winter conditions nasmeh

Today nice tour starting in Spodnja Kokra past Čemšenik hut and on unmarked path to Baba. After short stop on to Javorov Peak. Nice path, ridge path to Baba offers nice views. At Čemšenik hut, very friendly, food very tasty. Nice mountaineer's greeting.

From primary school in Preddvor towards Bistrica stream valley, but only to junction of path leading along ridge directly to Francijeva koča and Jakob.

First part really steep and pleasantly scenic on certain sections.

At Jakob quite lively, further to Potoška less so. On Potoška gora quick snack, then further to highest point of today's path - Javorov Peak.

Very nice views accompanied us and weather offered wonderful scenery, especially from Javorov Peak onwards, descending gently along ridge to Hudičev boršt.

There quick breather at shelter, then steeply down to Mače and along road back to car.

Super loop, 14.5 km and a tad over 1000m elevation gain accumulated.

Today afternoon from Kokra to Javorov Peak. To avoid being too boring, extended return by about an hour and turned along ridge over Slaparjeva gora and Hude stene to Škrbina and past Zajca to valley. Nice stroll and nice views. Silence, peace ... Beautiful. Practically no snow left.
