Is Ceria Merlone really completely dry already?

Right from Prednje spranje upwards there was still a bit of snow needed. From there on dry all the way under Pipanova ladder

Yesterday up Amalia, Findenegg glacier to Montaz, and same way back. Total 11h walking, a bit more than actually needed. At koča Grego I missed and went up slope, but needed to continue on path 611 Carlo Chersi, hidden by tall grass in first meters. Otherwise Amalia super, well marked, secured initial part, then more free climbing. Literature says discourage descent Via Amalia - descent not much harder than ascent, though clambering on cable lower part not most elegant.
Recommend visit koča Grego (10min walk from last parking in Dunja) - nicely kept, panoramic spot, admire Sv. Višarje, Mangart, Viš, Montaz and all between.

Path to bivak Stuparich like every year, if you know it by heart even better not to wander uselessly. Bolts standing. Entry to Kugyevo nicely snowy as always. Ferrata no issues, exit had one bigger snow patch. At 2050m snow base started. Snowy path except steep to saddle. Shady side to west nicely snowy. Nice view to Dunja from which nice route comes. Montaz sphinx majestic. Right gully from Findenegg glacier great, base super. No one anywhere, not even over Pippana. Cross sadly on ground. Descend ascent direction now past Suringar. Almost no snow in it. Now much better ascent time than in week or two. Less snow more holes crevasses. Heat spiced with water.

Nice tour.
At Kugy's there's (looks like) a snowfield up to the wall. So high that probably the lower smooth detail is still under snow.

Long-desired trip fell into place with one callmežikanje.
How nice when we're all for itvelik nasmeh and we hugged after a long time in Zajzeri where we overnighted, next morning three went to Via Amalia, our "youngster" cared for - provided our transport, dinner and drinks, of coursenasmeh
On scree we get a bit confusedzmeden, then the youngest member makes up for lost time almost running to Bivak Stuparich for meeek. We look around a bit, I get inspired, then to the wall, where we gear up (read2) and "action starts". The start is already vertical, steep and exposed, but well protected. The traverses are really original and after the first exposure shock, Amalia calms down a bit, walks you a bit and shows her boldness again when you approach the edge, where you see into Dunja and steep grasses in the descent, below simply... nothingeek... we descend carefully, traverse and we're at Bivak Suringar, where the four-legged "locals" greet us of course. After a short stop we continue over Findenegg glacier, where mists hide the dark depths of Clapadorije, but no matter, hehe. Towards the top it opens a bit, but not for long, as when we reach the top, mists have the main say, but still, yippee, Montaz top is ours, Via Amalia "conquered"nasmeh.
During well-deserved snack an idea drops, no, not mine... what if we also hop to Vrh Brda, I haven't been there yet, says the youngest?!! Of course, we avoided the "traffic jam" on lojtra and went. The day was already colored with laughter anyway, but my non-aesthetic jam on descent to the lower level still elicited laughter on the faces of both participants for a couple of daysjezik, hahahaaa and yes, thanks for help from both sides.
Hmm, Vrh Brda (Cima Verde) loaded, crumbly, but scenic, and no crowds either. We descend over steep grasses, and join the marked path under lojtra. A bit of sliding on rocks, then gas over scree and to the cook for supplies...
"Orng" tour, which is also with descent to Pecol long, demanding, tiring, but at the same time very interesting, well protected where it is and yes, Montaz cannot disappoint.
It was a perfect vacation start... weather held, company excellent and mobile cook gets 10nasmeh

On Saturday with buddy up Amalia to Montaz top via Findenegg glacier. Path OK. First snowfield crampons needed, rest bypassable. At traverse over Dunja valley at start of descent from ridge path bit ruined and scratched. Cable bit damaged, caution needed because everything crumbles underfoot (dirt, rocks).
Just below top snowfall greeted us, it was quite magicalnasmeh
Descent via Pipan ladder to Pecol plateau, already light rain. Anyway excellent day used nasmeh

Yesterday route Zajzera - Bivak Stuparich - Via Amalia - Bivak Suringar - Findenegg glacier - Montaz - Vrh Brda - Pecol.
To Suringar bivouac I enjoyed the solitude of that beautiful path, protections OK, on glacier "bombardment"... a Czech girl got a stone in the eye, luckily only minor wound, she and her partner had two small dogs with them on the glaciereek, how and where they descended I don't know...
Thanks friends for ride to car.

Yesterday on Via Amalia,... I usually wander the hills alone, this time my niece kept me company.
Start in Zajezeri, past bivak Stuparich, bivak Suringar through Findenegg glacier to the top of Montasio and via Pipan ladder to planina Pecol. The path is excellent except for a short section on steep grasses above Dunja, where the trail is damaged and extra caution is needed.
If I don't count the numerous locals, we met no one on the whole path, except three German-speaking hikers at the top of Montasio. On the nearby Spik there were heavy crowds, and according to stories on the drive home, it was real horror from the crush and flying stones past heads.
Start of Amalia1

...I assume the bivouac is around the corner...14
...and indeed...15
...it was waiting with doors wide open, I don't know what good that does...16
...we go on..., I closed the bivouac.17
There it goes up towards the glacier...18
already on the ridge, a little rest...and view into Dunjo...19
...and Zajezero, our starting point...20

We two on the summit..., both very satisfied...22

Yesterday on Via Amalia.

Most of the path is in good condition except on the descent to Dunja (where the sphinx is visible); the grass has slipped, so at one spot the anchor was washed away. Great caution is needed there due to the risk of slipping.

Bivak Suringar was being renovated yesterday!
