Road from Ljubinja to planina Stador and Podkuk during the week occasionally closed due to renovation. See the schedule on the photo.
Currently very nice on Kobilja glava. No heat yet, not overgrown either.

Car left lower at bend and along marked to pl.Stador. Soon after sign turn left to one path and via steep west slope to ridge Kobilje glave. With crampons help. Didn't stay long on top and started descent before sunset. Road plowed to pl.Stador....but given height of Kobilje glave worth starting lower.

The goal of the trip was to make a circular route over Kobilja glava in an early-spring atmosphere. Goal achieved.
Starting point: parking lot at Beri waterfall.

First to Žabč past Sv. Mark and then on the marked path along the mulatjera to the top of Poloja with a nice viewpoint. From here, the view towards Kobilja glava is somewhere between motivational/demotivational depending on the distance velik nasmeh

From Poloja onwards along the marked path, which runs more or less straight under Tolminski Triglav, you quickly reach Planina Lom. But we were quite slow because we stopped so many times to admire the beauty of the path and the views.

From Lom onwards directly steeply uphill to Vrh Klonic and then along the ridge to Kobilja. Despite the slow pace and a lot of talking, we reached the summit in less than 4h.

Unexpected and above all beautiful was the realization that from Planina Lom to the top of Kobilja it's full of crocuses, which are all (or 90%) white!

I've never seen anything like it and I couldn't stop admiring how nature changes and paints with its colors.

This was followed by the descent to planina Stador and along the marked path to the road with a view of Kuk at Poljubinske Ravne. There we closed the loop by turning onto an unmarked path (which is hard to spot, but once you find it, you can follow it without trouble) that descends steeply and precipitously into the gorge, directly to the car. This part of the path was annoying and slippery (especially when wet), but there are also foreign guests on the path going “to the antenna” nasmeh

After what we saw today, a good tourist season is in store for Posočje.

16 km and 1420 m of elevation gain accumulated on the route.

Happy holidays everyone and safe steps,
Ben

Hello, I'm interested in how to get to Kobilja glava on foot from Tolmin via Poljubinje (I remember a beautiful waterfall there, I think it's called Slap Beri) and how much time is needed for average walking? I would be very glad for a description of this approach as well as its difficulty or current passability from some local expert, thanks.

The path, if it exists at all, is probably officially unmarked, so I'm wondering if it's traceable in any way with any possible markings. I'm also interested if anyone has a GPX track of this approach, thanks. Best regards, Vlado from Kranj.

@Vlajko,

The route of our descent is the route of your ascent. When you reach the gorge of the Beri waterfall, go into it, then about 5 min further from the place where you cross the gully with the landslide, watch for an unmarked and less visible branch off to the right upwards. Follow the steep path to the beginning of the asphalted road to Stador, then after 3 min of walking on the road, notice the signs for Kobilja and continue along the marked path.

Good luck,
Ben

@Bandzo, thanks for the reply, but I would ask you (or anyone else who knows this approach) for a bit more data about this approach, if possible, maybe a word about the approach time on this path, especially about that steep section of the path to the start of the asphalted road at Stador. Judging by the pictures, you also mention the exposure of the path, and I'm interested in the difficulty too, especially when the path is not dry.

Is there perhaps any fallen trees on this path that additionally complicate it?

Thanks and best, Vlado.
