Although I've been to Kobila Head many times, it's always nice and different. This time I took it a bit my own way: from Stador pasture first to nearby Jalovnik, then along the ridge to Kobila Head. Quite cold - well below zero, very strong cold wind. Path icy, snow blown in places, knee-deep in others. Nice day, nice tour.

In the afternoon I decided to go to Kobila Head from Poljubinjska Ravan; when I arrived there was a warning of closed path and visible fallen trees, so I drove to Planina Stador. I praise the caretakers very much, road super cleared and trees sawn. From Planina Stador direct to Kobila Head. Not much snow, say 20-30 cm more on ridge. Top windy not too cold, photo a bit, look around, then ridge to Planina Lom, forest knee-deep but down no big issues, bit faster down. Arrive Planina Lom go to Tolminski Triglav, summit vegetated but see some. From top run all to Planina Stador.

Trail without special features, no snow on the path. Views are magnificent.

Edina, nice, nice! I see it's all dry around there, time to go hiking in those parts.

Today I headed to Kobilja glava from Ljubinj village. The road from Ljubinj is normally drivable to the repeater turn-off, further no, as the road is snowy and icy. The path to planina Stador was partially trodden but icy. Recommend at least mini crampons. Further on so-so Snow sinks to knees, where drifted even to the butt. Windy today too. In the last days, when stubborn fog in the valley persists well into the late morning, one needs to go higher for the sun, i.e., to the mountains. I chose Kobilja glava, as it's close and a great viewpoint. The road to the gate of the Planina Stador pasture was dry, further on snowy and icy. To avoid trouble, I parked at the gate and continued on foot. The path to the top is trodden, it's hard only a few meters below the summit, where some caution is needed, especially on the descent (slip risk). The summit was generously sunny, surprisingly no wind today, no crowd either, as only one hiker came after me. The view though....

We have admired Kobilja glava several times in the recent period while doing tours in its area. So we said we must climb it too, to return the views to the already hiked peaks. And Kobilja glava is a peak that one needs to climb multiple times, i.e., in different periods of the year, on different paths. And since I had already hiked from Podmelc once, this time we chose just the drive through Podmelec, where the road winds past picturesque rocky walls further to Ljubinj and later on a narrower road to Pl. Stador, and there we started hiking. Already during the drive, views to the Julijce opened up, and with altitude they became wider and more beautiful. Since we were both on this path for the first time, the excitement was even greater. We extended the path to the neighboring Jalovnik, as one cannot deny the other that allows a view back to the first one To have even more new things, on the return we descended along the ridge path towards Planina Lom and from there returned by road to Pl. Stador. On the way back we also climbed to the Sopota waterfall, which signs by the road a little before Podmelc point out. Here we again just marveled at all the beauty we saw and at the colors of the rock over which the water falls. Some snow and the light of the afternoon sun gilded the waterfall area and thus made it even more magical. Really interesting, with so little effort to such a beautiful waterfall! I strongly recommend! Many beauties on the entire path, so many photos too

Since the sunset colors charmed me last time, I had to repeat. Road plowed to Stador, track there and no need for gaiters.
