Hello everyone,
has anyone perhaps been in this area in the last few days and would be so kind as to say what the conditions are like?
I assume it's no longer necessary to start at Matizovec and the start can be moved a bit higher?

Regardless of season, starting point is always the same, parking ca 20 min below Matizovec farm.

Here's feedback - can't get to Mrzli Studenec by car due to snow. Possible to drive to about 1,100 m elevation, but then have to walk about 3 km on the road (gentle walk) to the starting point.
Owners of larger 4x4s can drive a couple hundred m further, but then they'll also be forced to park on the edge.
In coming days and weeks this limit will rise of course, but there's really lots of snow and it'll stay long.
Regarding the Kofce themselves - snow is very soft and despite numerous hikers who packed the path, still tiring to walk. Especially in the afternoon very avalanche-prone, so uphill only on the ridge path.

If you don't have time you take it and just go. Aiming for sunset. Up the ridge to Kofce mountain, at top surprise, no wind and not cold . Waited for sunset and descended the arrival route. Nice overall.

Correct observation, @skalaš. Those two mentioned were heavily exposing themselves. For me the second degree is enough to go your variant, although a bit longer and steeper in places, and practically no avalanche risk.

By car to Mrzli studenec, icy, got up without chains... for descent put them on for 15 min. From Kofce onwards expected better conditions but snow soft and sinking. Soon on lower path to Veliki vrh turned back to junction for Kofce Gora, higher there too turned back, as narrowest part of ridge wouldn't hold weight and would have slid away with me to lower path. Descent not frozen held somehow.

Yesterday I drove by car to Mrzli studenec (ice has thawed and it was possible without chains up and down, path is nice all the way). Then to Kofce, Kofce gora along the ridge and then along the ridge on path to Kladivo and then down to pl. Šija. Snow sinks in, but not so much to be big problem. It's so warm that svišč already blooms.
also REQUEST: On the path (probably on ridge between Kofce gora and Kladivo, maybe also from Kladivo towards Šija) I lost Camp semi-automatic crampons. Honest finder I gladly reward! Call 031 620 692. Thanks!!

Plan for today was Veliko Kladivo. Due to quite demanding snow conditions progress was slower, so at the end we were more than satisfied with Kofce gora.
Short description of conditions: currently just too much snow that softens too quickly.
Long description of conditions follows.
Looks like slopes of Košuta have mostly avalanched already. One hero today tramped to Veliki vrh, up via summer path.
I still didn't want to cross slopes anywhere today, so ascent and descent along ridge to Kofce gora. From 1/3 ridge onwards (where we donned full winter gear) we had honor of first making "track" after last snowfall.
Snow in morning (clear) crusty, but sank to groin between bushes, so start of ridge climb took lots of energy. Places with less snow and ideal frozen for step-kicking. But ridge upper part abundantly snowed and quite sharp. To rest you just straddled it, so narrow in spots. Last February crossed it, wasn't remotely as demanding as today. Morning when crust held well on ascent thought ok, but not fully, never know which step breaks through and throws off balance. So narrow ridge parts like eggshells, critical parts crossed "sideways" kicking into shady (harder) slope side, thrusting ice axe into ridge top with full shaft deep in snow for support/balance. Up still OK, down when snow softening less OK.
Key is to be early enough and time tour so thaw doesn't catch you in an inconvenient spot.
Anyway very slow and strenuous, from Kofce to top Kofce gora took good 2 hrs.  ... Wouldn't reach Kladivo till tomorrow evening, let alone safe return…  At descent start from Kofce gora ca 9.30 already sinking abundantly in places turning to mush. No wonder - 23 C valley today.
Successful day, very valuable experience, but next time similar spring conditions rather go Dovško Baba.
