Kranjska reber (Kašni vrh) - Kašna planina

On Saturday Kašna planina and its Kašni vrh lured me again; about half an hour I waited at the very windy pass at Črnivec for the wind to slow its whirling of air a bit, but since it didn't stop, I still decided for the ascent; path along the road of course dry (muddy in places), through the forest still pleasant, slightly soft snow, towards the top alternating patches of snow and dry grass and only on some parts of the trodden path a bit icy; throughout an extremely strong wind was blowing, so at the open, lonely top at the logbook box it properly knocked me over the rocks and warned that it's no joke with it ; the expected nice views weren't there this time, next time, as the path is worth repeating (without such wind of course); lp

Today we were already itching for nice weather and since the forecast was favorable, we went to Kranjska reber from Črnivec. The path was quite muddy at the beginning, in the forest quite solid, towards the top of course slightly snowy, with clouds in the sky that the wind was chasing over the peaks, so no views and we soon turned back. Nevertheless we had a nice walk in nature.

During holidays it's good to take care of movement too, and that's what my son and I did. Since there was no luck with views on the last visit, we set off again to Kašni vrh. In the forest along the path the wind of past days again did a lot of damage, many spruces are broken or uprooted. Some of them lie on the path too, so it needs to be bypassed. Snow just a sample, only towards the top there's a bit more, especially if you step into a drift. At the top a "gift" for the effort - beautiful views.

Yesterday was time for a nice afternoon walk from Črnivec to Kašna planina. At the top we watched the sunset and the wonderful glow of the planina slope shining warm colors of the setting sun. We left the top amid the spilling of the last violet light shades and the faint glow of the first moon crescent and slowly went down.

Today from Črnivec to Kranjska reber, unplanned via Plešivec, because I didn't go past those fallen spruces on the path, but turned left on the road before them...

Today as overture to the holiday week a shorter easy but still nice hike to Kranjska reber - Kašna planina. Start at the inn on Črnivec pass. If you go there first time you really don't know where to turn. You have to cross the road at the inn uphill on the clearcut - aftermath of the storm. It took the forest on both sides. Some replanting done, but nature will need two generations to recover. Marked relatively well, only at the third crossing of the gravel road we have to turn right above the road - that section not marked. After the clearcut part, forest section follows and quite soon we reach the pasture of Kašna planina and the top with stamp box for entries and stamp which sadly disintegrated. Forest part and clearcut is damp, the planina itself dry - only crocus and wood anemone blooming, here and there cranberries seen. On clearcut blueberries visible, but totally scorched by sun. Then descent to the shepherd hut with barn. Here there's running water too. You can see the shepherd serves something during grazing season. With car you can drive to the hut, but that's not our purpose. The hike is short and suitable for morning or afternoon. Even in winter no problem to go up.

Today's morning view of Kamnik Alps dressed in clouds down to the ground wasn't encouraging at all. So our initial plan was more a walk until the clouds keep the moisture to themselves. And since on the way to Kašna planina or Kranjska reber there's always something to snack along the way, the decision from Črnivec towards Kranjska reber was unanimous. We didn't even plan to go to the top, because with my current "enanauro" movement I'm not exactly a "bullet train" (well, never am), but it was so pleasant that we reached the top. Not much to write about path conditions, no major mud, just here and there a bit "squishy" underfoot and some fresh stream to step over. Along the path raspberries, blackberries, cranberries and even some chanterelle and of course inedibles. Obviously mark makers were at work recently, as marks are freshly repainted.

Potepinka, did you eat all the snack for the bear? I was up here in winter time, weather was just like that, barely ate my snack, hands were so cold, could see only a few meters ahead. But still nice. Nice regards and safe steps further.

tisa The bear got the biggest and nicest blackberries, he has no qualms going to sweeter overgrown parts. Otherwise no frost, rather hot. Views up here I know in all seasons so just strolling is fun for me. You definitely drop by up there on nice weather once, worth it. In combination with Lepenatka (also Rogatec) can be nice full day hike. Nice day to you too!

How did you know potepinka, that I haven't been to Rogatec and Lepenatka yet. Definitely plan to visit those two peaks too. Nice regards and good luck.
