Mirank, thanks for the thoughts. It wasn't that bad anyway. Otherwise, no worries, I have Tabacco map no. 19, without it there's no walking in the Western Julians. Since I hike alone, if I don't know the condition of certain paths and markings on them (on many Italian paths markings are very faded) I rather avoid them. As far as I know, the Saxon path is quite long and often damaged. And also: from the parking at Cave del Mole I went on the abandoned road towards Rabeljsko Lake, so I saved that long detour to the main road. Along this road there are many abandoned buildings (military?), so it wasn't so boring, and hitchhiking is also possible. On such tours you have to take that into account, as e.g. if you go from Russian Cross towards Krnica and descend to Vršič you have to get back to the start - in such cases I returned by hitchhiking.

Today to Krniška Saddle from Beli Potok. Path without issues to the "Gorizia" bivouacs, from there to the saddle I was accompanied by hard snow, but it can mostly be avoided, as warmer days have melted quite a bit of it. I didn't use winter gear, but I still recommend it. At the saddle I "checked out" the start of the Centenary Path, after the tunnel exit I climbed the first peak on the path, I think it's Rabeljska Krniška Špica. Descended to the "Vršič" side to Corsi Hut, no noteworthy snow here. The hut is open and will remain so at least until the end of next weekend if the weather is nice - if my understanding of Italian is correct... velik nasmeh

Returned via Viška Planina and road to parking at Beli Potok. Weather great. nasmeh

Trbiška Krn.Špica - Wild Goat - Turn Gamsove Matere (18.08.18)

From Beli Vodi past bivouac Gorizia to Krnica Saddle. Before going to Anita Goitan I visited Cima Vallone. I would rate it I-II. Wild Goat maybe a bit harder. Before finishing with Anita I also visited Turn Gams.matere (Torre). No rain in this part. The Saxon King Path is exceptionally beautiful.

Yesterday to Bivouac Gorizia under Krniška Špica. Path from Beli Vodi through forest, thickly covered with fallen leaves hiding holes, roots, rocks, and very slippery. Careful on descent...
Day almost summery, accordingly number of hikers too.
