Lighting for short days

Here, yesterday I was on another "night" hike. REs is great. Surprisingly many people.

One thing interests me: why do some think a light can shine too much? Me, for example, I see poorly in the dark, already wear glasses (have quite high diopters) and my 1000 lumens aren't too much by any chance.

Of course, nothing beats full moon, I agree, but that's more in the open, not in the forest, on slightly more demanding terrain, then moon alone is too little, unfortunately.

after about 45 minutes our (human) eyes get so used to the dark that we can walk practically without light, we get so-called night vision, but we lose the sight instantly if we expose eyes to light source (flashlight, candle, light, etc...). When looking at map or using light we must cover one eye with hand, only this way night vision will be preserved. Tested, it works. Otherwise we don't see as well as during daytime, but satisfactorily, distinguish outlines, walk without stumbling, in short we gather that little light source available to us... Try it. And it's funnasmeh

I agree with the previous two, Tika plus in pocket for at least emergency, otherwise best without eek

Definitely bothers me when during such night forest walk I run into someone with a light, usually greet, turn aside, but the one I meet usually shines right into my face, then I need a couple minutes to readapt my vision, often shade my eyes with hand, meanwhile those I meet shine into me on purpose and can't look aside or to the ground jezenjezenjezen This happens mostly in more crowded areas ... Rožnik, ŠG, less in Polhograjci, where at such hours it's already hard to meet anyone...eek
