1.2.2023 Around Krvavica
Initially the plan was to the Tesen gorge and then to the Krvavica summit and return through the window to the start. In the Tesen gorge everything was intact. Some avalanches buried the gorge right to the stream. No special issues on the path, no sinking. Walked on ice crust. The gorge exit already showed in a different light. Sinking to knees and deeper. Only wildlife tracks, no others.
Very tiring trailbreaking to the bench under Krvavica awaited me. Expected it trampled to the top, but no. Footprints on the road from Slaničar, round and back. Took some time in the sun for rest and short snack. Already 1.5 hours hard trailbreaking in snow to 80 cm, drifts much more.
Continuation in southern untrampled snow toward the top I soon concluded. Turned and followed footprints on the road to Slaničar. From there knew it would be plowed. Altogether cca. 4 km to the start.
Plowed roads a bit more torment then gas to parked car.
Total walked 4 hours covered 8.2 km. Lots of fallen trees on path. Some icy, elsewhere snow to 1 m or more. In shade powdery snow, on sun-exposed slopes wet southern.
lp
Looks like I'll have to break trail on SW side of Krvavica and connect all now. Path to Zajčeva hut still intact.

Geppo, as if you knew, today I also chose Krvavička. Plan was up through window, then SW side to Zajčeva hut and via Tesen gorge to start. Unfortunately didn't work out, had to go back same way. Snow on top completely southern, soft and despite ice axe I had, didn't risk descent there.
Back I went by turning left before window steeply down, and below rejoined normal path.
Path trampled, from saddle onward snow increases quickly. Not icy, but microspikes during descent quite useful.
But on path one traverse, which in summer you don't even notice, with snow demands full attention. Sometimes there were protections.
Geppo thanks for idea. Lp

Ha ha Jany
looks like it'll wait for me to pull the track to the other side. Don't know why nobody wants it?velik nasmeh
Through window I sometimes also prefer to bypass left into the steep. Pegs and rope sometimes all in ice and despite steep still safer. Traverse in winter conditions would need protection, as visits to this peak are increasing in recent years.

Path to Zajčeva hut all intact, painful trailbreaking would await you. When on the other side, your easiest return (track made) on forest road to Slaničar - from there plowed. But cca. 5 km to parking under Krvavica. On the way you can see Stari grad 636 m - Ojstrica castle (once stood here).
Return to Tesen gorge has my footprints - just very long stepsvelik nasmeh

No, descent or ascent to Krvavica on SW side, from bench down, few meters quite demanding, especially if snow soft and southern, which it always is in sunny weather. Would say watch out, but would look like apprentice teaching master.

This castle, or what's left, surely I'll check out.

No, not so easy those few meters. In 2018 also huge amount of snow and had completely dry mouth when I climbed over.

7.2.2023 Krvavica
Path to the summit is nicely trampled. Recommend microspikes. Avoided the window on the right side - trampled. On the other side a track has been made, so I didn't need to bother.
Conditions were quite good and I went to visit the shelters and hole on the SE side. Didn't dare under the wall, because the sun had warmed it so much that stones and icicles started falling. Continued with direct descent (very steep!!!) to Tesen and along the stream back from the gorge.
Recommend microspikes
In Tesen gorge you can walk on top of the ice crust. When crossing the avalanche deposit, be careful, because there are holes underneath in some places.
Morning at 9 o'clock -10°C. After three hours on return -3.5°C.

Krvavica, Zajčeva hut, Gunetova glava, Čemšeniška planina, Stari grad, Kukenberg

Morning partly cloudy +1C. First up to Krvavica. Down to Zajčeva hut for short break and snack. Up to cross on Gunetova glava 926m. Down and up west side to Čemšeniška planina. Down to Presedle and road to Stari grad (here supposedly drowned Veronika Deseniška in 1425). After viewing castle ruins down to Kukenberg 578m. This peak was viewpoint for castle residents. From Kukenberg down past Glažuta, where early 19th century glass was made. Cross Suhi stream and after 6h30min and cca. 13km back at start.

20.2.2025 Krvavica - not through Okno (as the title says)
First I go into the ravine of Tesen stream. As expected the stream is frozen. The cold of the last few days created nice ice sculptures. In the ravine there are some newly fallen trees that partially obstruct the passage. When I emerge from the shady ravine, the sun awaits me. Brložna ridge is nicely sunlit and invites me.
At the saddle before ascent to Krvavica, for a moment I rest in the sun, take off extra clothes. The bench under the summit is still full of snow and I sit in the sun for a while. Peace, silence, the sun pleasantly warms and softens the snow.
For descent I don't choose the path through the window, but directly down the slope. Here up to 20cm snow and quite dangerous for slipping. The last part of descent I do on the marked path. Not much trodden. Also here caution needed! Slippery, icy!!

8.1.2026 Krvavica
At parking lot (12:30) by Suh potok -5C. I put on "microspikes" and follow predecessor's track to the top. Tricky part under Okno. Slippery, spikes don't grip much, snow is loose. Through Okno I climb without issues, rope is dry. But strong westerly wind appears carrying snow crystals. Already on drive to Krvavica I noticed white "curtains" on top and expected something like that. No one went to the other side yet and I decide for that descent right away. Doesn't tempt me to go back the same way over that nasty part under Okno. Descent to Tesen gorge is ok too. To the junction for Zajčevo there is predecessor's track, who hung colored tapes on branches and marked path to Zajčeva. In the gorge snow showers from branches shaken by westerly. Nothing special, except more and more fallen trees with trunks and branches obstructing the path. After three hours loop closed and still -5C.
Snow up to 60cm and some parts on my path quite challenging!
