Yesterday on Veliki Bogatin aka Mahavšček. At 9:30 at Savica parking, few cars, also on Komna very few people. Dom closed until 15.12., as per PZS site. Through Gracija valley to Bogatinsko sedlo and under Mali Bogatin to Mahavšček summit. Morning dull cloudy, just before summit it cleared up, views wonderful. From B. sedlo onwards the wind was blowing with full force. So short stop at summit, then back same way. Below B. sedlo wind calmed, further sunny, warm, anyway as always nice. Just above hut under Bogatin we met a fox. It worried me a bit, because I don't know how to deal with such beasts.
Water falls over Komarče in several waterfalls, Savica roars to the last upper bend. Really noticeable that it rained the day before. Safe and happy to all. nasmeh

On Sunday, 6. 7. 2025, from Savica to the hut on Komna and further via Planina Govnjač to Veliki Bogatin. Planina Govnjač is deserted, full of flowers, gentian prevails in the head of the valley. We didn't go via the shortcut, but along the path on the edge of the valley. The path disappears in places, but it presents no problem. With the ascent, increasingly beautiful views accompanying you all the way to the top of Mahavšček. Very windy at the summit, otherwise great viewpoint. Weather changing, but no rain. We didn't meet anyone on the path except observed two marmots, one of which wasn't in a hurry anywhere. Even snow in one cirque, which is obviously a fixture on this path.
Circular return via Bogatinski sedlo to the hut below Bogatin, where we ate a tasty lunch and were the only guests. Interesting and beautiful path. nasmeh

Has anyone hiked towards the saddle these days? Would it be possible to go on Saturday? Thanks.

Well, we tackled it on Sunday. Start from Savica at 4:30. We put on crampons at switchback 43. Quick continuation to the hut under Bogatin and towards the saddle. Before the saddle we branch left, walk under Bogatin and, when we're right under the summit of Mahavšček, we head almost directly to the top. Real suffering due to snow sinking. A bit to the right under the summit we reach the ridge where the snow is hard. At 9:00 we're at the top. We descend along the ridge further and when it ends we turn left and walk under Mahavšček, again towards the saddle and before the saddle right, back the same way. Rest in the hut under Bogatin and return to the car at 13:30. Nice tour and new two-thousander.
