Branko, your photo of the youth on the path from Komne is very heartfelt. I see that you nicely prepared contributions from your visit to Komne and the surrounding peaks both in the "Which flower is this" section, to the section about planinas, as well as on this forum about paths. Is there some special reason you cite planina Govnjač without "j", because I thought it is planina Govnjač with "j"? It seems right to me to write mountains with the correct name (like flower names), otherwise soon more and more people get the bad habit and adapt names. Anyway, I hope you didn't take this question of mine as bad, I just want to know what is correct. Regards

Hello, I'm interested in the other side of Mahavšček. Does anyone know if the road to Polog is still closed and why? Is descent from Mahavšček to Čadrg and from Čadrg to Polog possible? thanks for answers and good luck to all!

I was on the mentioned trail on 22.7. but in the reverse direction. Nice trail, scenic, but didn't meet anyone on it from hut to hut. From Mahavšček I returned via shortcut to planina Govnjač and regretted not going around. Trail is traceable, marked, but quite overgrown with pines. On Mahavšček the stamp is embedded in rock above the last marker. At B. saddle I found a TNP map, will return it to whoever forgot it there

About the stamp, reading it for the first time. Will look for it next time. The shortcut from planina Govnač didn't work out for me a couple years ago - somehow ended up at the other end of the planina. On planina Govnač there is indeed a sign for that shortcut. Quite soon the path got lost among those conifers and then I basically just wandered back and forth. From planina Govnač there are two marked paths. First through the middle of the planina past the spring - actually an old mule track and the one on the left side along the slope. Before the saddle above the planina those two paths join.

Užitkar. Descent from Mahavšček to Dobrenjščica, then to planina na Kalu, under the stables to the forest, right to the hunting hut, then along marked trail over the ridge to Čadrg. Through the village, then across meadow below the village, through forest on trail to Tolminka and across pasture to the road leading to Polog. From here about 1km to parking in Polog. Or from Mahavšček along ridge to Tolminski Kuk, over Migovec to planina Kal and on to Čadrg. I did this route in reverse. Nice and enjoyable tour. Recommend.

My three-day hike from Bohinj to Trenta wound across the Lower Bohinj Mountains all the way to the heart of the Julian Alps. According to my condition, I planned the hike as leisurely as possible and in the end was really glad I managed such a long route, which except for a few shorter sections is not demanding, but on rocky and scree terrain mostly just requires a lot of attention, especially after long hours of walking when each next step is less secure. On Thursday, 27.8.2015, I started hiking at Vogel ski area - at the upper station of Orlova Glava chairlift (1,682 m). After having walked a short path already, I first climbed to Vogel summit (1,922 m) and then over Konjsko sedlo (1,782) to planina Govnjač (1,474 m). Followed ascent to cloud-wrapped Mahavšček (2,005 m) and continuation over Bogatinsko sedlo (1,804 m) to Dom na Komni (1,520 m). Long but easy path that always fascinates me again. To Vogel met two couples, some hikers at Vogel summit and a small group below Konjsko sedlo. Then long hours of pleasant solitude in low-hanging clouds. At the end warm shower and fragrant bed in comfortable Dom na Komni, where I already feel almost at home. According to signs the route takes about 8 hours. With many short photo stops I walked 9.5 hours, with four longer ones 11.5 hours. The next day I continued to Koča pri Triglavskih jezerih (1,685 m) and over Štapce (1,851 m) to Mala Tičarica, below V. Tičarica (2,071 m) and Kopica over Mala Zelnarica (2,320 m) and descent to Prehodavce (2,071 m): http://www.hribi.net/trenutnerazmere.asp?slo=1&gorovjeid=1&id=2810 Third day climbed to Kanjavec (2,569 m) and past Koča na Doliču (2,151 m) to Trenta (600 m): http://www.hribi.net/trenutnerazmere.asp?slo=1&gorovjeid=1&id=787

I used today and last year's vacation to visit Bogatin and Mahavšček. The hut under Bogatin is already operating. Between Bogatinsko sedlo and Bogatin there's still one snowfield, which can easily be bypassed, so winter gear isn't necessary. Some people obviously use the summit logbox on Mahavšček as a trash can.

Yesterday 16.6.2021 I waved to it across the valley from 1800 m spot. Started below the gondola first along Žagarje and then up the hunting path without markers. Initially nicely traceable at hunting path height already overgrown, especially broken by lots of snow avalanches. So I turn towards the hunting path and looking for connection to Savica not directly up but right. Again along hunting path up the gully and over the edge - into labyrinth of scree and snow. Slowly I make my way back to dry Ražnova and along marked to planina Govnač. Path occasionally snowy but with solid footwear no problem. From planina towards Mahavšček already on solid but holding snow to 1800 m, where I admire a flock of at least 8 paragliders above Škrbina of Tolminski Kuk and a herd of small chamois school running around me. Back to planina and across Komna to Savica which is already attracting more tourists and along road to start. Above 1600 m for strolling you need winter gear, even if just take ice axe in hand for some crossing. No tracks yet.
