Today already at six in the morning at the parking lot in Mače. Past the lower cable car station straight up through Suha to Mačensko sedlo. In the lower part there is a nicely made track, but when it turns left towards Kališče I put on snowshoes and go straight up into the deep snow. Conditions in the valley to Mačensko sedlo excellent. Rubble is under snow, so I freely choose the path. On the saddle quite strong wind. Since I saw two hikers on Bašeljski vrh, I turn right because I don't like trampled snow. Towards Mali Grintovec no tracks thank God. Despite the steepness I continued with snowshoes almost to the summit. Since I turned too much towards the ridge I descended a few meters, took off snowshoes and reached the summit in a few minutes. If someone follows, stick more to the right on the marked path, it will be easier. Since Lanež ridge was still not snowy enough, I descended along the ridge towards Dolga njiva and then along it to Kozjek and into the valley. Clear sky all the time, only later it got cloudy. Wonderful snowshoe tour, I will repeat it in the opposite direction in the coming days.

Today via Kališče and Bašeljski vrh to Little Grintovec. Almost no snow to Bašeljski vrh. On descent from Bašeljski vrh and ascent to Little Grintovec there are quite some snow patches, but they don't pose bigger problems for walking. Didn't need winter gear, nor did I notice it on others who climbed the summit at that time.

Plan was simple, couldn't be simpler, but it didn't pan out. Almost could say: "As expected."
At the parking lot I swallow a lump and step onto the forest road called Mačenska pot, which I usually avoid time and again, but today's sole goal was to go along the entire Dolga njiva meadow. Unusual, but whenever I wander around here, I observe a bit of its wavy grasses from afar, so it seemed time to end the stepmotherly relation to this bit of world.
When I reach the hut with house number: Dolge njive 1, I sit in the shade and for a while just laze with a water bottle in hand. Then I quench my thirst and head on full of expectations. Soon rowans adorned with red berries start to keep me company, then on the left I spot a possible crossing to the ridge between Lanež and Little Grintovec and the goal already crumbles to dust. Legs just carried me to the ridge and along it to the summit. Truth be told, it was only there that I breathed with full lungs. Sorry Dolga njiva, part of your secret grasses will have to wait till next time. Will surely come.
From Little Grintovec I descend to Mačensko sedlo, from where it's not far to home at Kališče, so I decide for one more new variant and head straight south, where after a few meters I spot a little path. Further on it is mostly visible, sometimes it hides a bit, but orientation is completely simple - no left, no right, straight down the gully following my nose.
On a hot day like today, the morning descent was mostly in shade and thus quite pleasant.
