Yes "Pikec1" It really was a nice day for this trip! You've written it quite nicely, so I'll just add a couple of my pics that seem good to me.

Today's nice weather forecast, and some free hours were just right for the ascent from Laški via Kališče to Bašeljski vrh and Mali Grintovec. The path is completely dry to Bašeljski vrh and Mačensko sedlo, from there towards M. Grintovec some ascent on soft and southern snow. Despite high temperatures snow melts only slowly and winter gear is still recommended. Ascent on snow passed without issues, consequently the descent to the saddle was very fast because of it. From the saddle to the junction above Kališče, a bit more caution is needed when crossing due to some small snow patches. LP Andrej

Today I went from Mač over Kozjek to Kališče and further to Mačensko sedlo and Mali Grintovec. Up to Mačensko sedlo I descended in the direction of the approach, then for descent I chose a solitary and quite overgrown path through the Suha valley. Lp Tadej

Mali Grintovec, yes it's really much lower compared to the big one, but had to work for its summit too. From Mač over Dolga njiva really longer than direct to Kališče and then to MG summit, but on this path you withdraw to your world of peace and quiet, as we met only two hikers on way to summit. First without snow, over Dolge njive windy, higher already properly sinking, no track, towards summit icy. Well good that crampons first time on boots today, though 6-pointers, did their job. Weather and views - more such days. LP!

Mače, Mali Grintovec, Kališče, Mače Since the sun awaited us in Mače village in the morning, we decided to visit three peaks, namely Srednji vrh, Cjanovca and Mali Grintovec, from there a descent to Kališče and the classic way back to the valley. The sun accompanied us to Dolgih Njiv, even Storžič without a cloud, so much the greater the disappointment when fog and cold wind greeted us at Dolgih Njiv. So our plan went to waste, because in this fog there was no sense in continuing our planned route. So we decided to visit only the summit of Mali Grintovec and descend via Mačensko sedlo to the hut at Kališče, where warm sun awaited us. Despite not succeeding in all we had planned today, we spent a wonderful day and got properly exercised . So full of new strength we started the new work week

To not open a new thread, the purpose of today's trip was ascent to Lanež ridge and scouting for traverse in better snow conditions. I knew there'd be too little snow but trying isn't a sin. Heard overgrown paths lead along the ridge and to Starca but I didn't find any today. Morning was quite icy, but spring conditions have crusted the snow. From Dolga njiva gaiters mandatory. After 10 min walk from hut turn left to wide logging trail. Easily reach ridge and go up a bit towards Mali Grintovec. Then turn and descend ridge to Starca. No path, scrub mercifully letting me down. Fairly easy to Starca summit. From there to Dolga njiva just nearly impassable scrub. Soaked to the skin descend to Dolga njiva. In these conditions think this peak easier from Suha valley, probably need to climb a I. If at least half meter snow falls it'll be great ridge traverse. Will return for sure but really in winter conditions.

Nice, we watched you like puppies from Kozji vrh. Well, when do you think winter conditions will come? Regards!

On the Storžič and Košuta maps all these "kuclji" are drawn. But I'm a bit confused about Starca. I have it marked northeast of Srednji vrh and Cjanovce, height 1423m. Are there two?

Now I'm confused too. A local from Kokra told me a while ago on Dolga njiva that they call this peak Starec. But it seemed strange to me that those kuclji on the map hanging in the hut have no names. Starec is indeed the peak northeast at 1423m. It's also visible from Kozji vrh. The Lanež ridge isn't visible from Kozji vrh because Mali Grintovec is in front. On the Karavanke map this peak is marked only with height 1659m. Obviously a mistake on my part, I apologize, promise to inquire more about the names of these kuclji.

Well, I managed it. Enough snow fell and I conquered Mali Grintovec and traversed the Lanež ridge. Due to the weather conditions, I was at the parking in Mače already at 5 a.m. Through Kozjek to Zaplate there is little snow, from the junction onwards to Srednji vrh its depth increases rapidly. In the morning the snow is still frozen, but it sinks in nonetheless. When I get out of the forest, I put on snowshoes and up the valley soon reach the saddle under Mali Grintovec. With snowshoes I have no problems, the snow is frozen and holds my weight well. Due to the large amount of snow I didn't go to the summit via the summer path but along the ridge. When I headed towards the Lanež ridge, I put on crampons, because the initial part of the ridge is quite exposed and I didn't want to risk it. On the lower part of the ridge I swapped crampons for snowshoes and descended over all those kuclji via nice passages to Dolga njiva. At ten o'clock the snow had already started sinking, but there were no major problems. Without snowshoes it sank to my knees later. According to the weather forecast, I really recommend the earliest possible start. At 12 p.m. the snow on the Kozjak ridge was completely rotten. I'm trying to upload pictures but it doesn't work. I'll try later.
