Was there yesterday. Cables on Italian route renewed. Must be recent, still drilling dust on rocks in some places.

Confirm, a couple of days ago "alpini" Italian army special unit renewed cables, same unit a couple of years ago built new ferrata on Štrug and renewed cables on red notch between middle and rear Ponca.

That part isn't renovated, but still much easier to pass than from Sevnica to the notch

Good evening! Reporting; today up the Slovenian side and down the Italian side, from the Saddle. I don't know how to comment or what the ideal gear would be for this mountaineering day. There was no snow more than 5 cm anywhere on the path, but ice combined with snow quite a bit. Probably the best are really GOOD MOUNTAIN BOOTS, while for crampons & ice axe there is simply too little snow. From the Mangart Saddle up the "action" starts soon, carefully, I can't say anything else, best to wait for the thaw or proper WINTER CONDITIONS. jezik

Until morning strong wind nicely chased clouds, afternoon it weakened. Road closed, snow starts around 1500, conditions mixed. Snow with icy crust, drifts and windblown to rock. Ascent and return to Italian crossing then straight up and down the winter way. For skis currently unfavorable conditions.

Rombon, Jerebica, Kaninsko pogorje, Vršič...

Road closed with a sign, barriers raised, road OK, to Mangart saddle and to scree dry, then on Italian route proper crampons, ice axe, helmet needed. Wires out, some under snow too, hard, soft, ice, all appears. Arrived just in time for sunset. Descended by the approach route. Traverse hard and part of wire under snow, need to be careful. Met two foreigners with crampons.
