When we were looking at the map yesterday with my wife I also suspected this stream myself. But then it doesn't match the original information that they found them around 900m. Probably at least 1000m since the stream goes close to the path earlier and someone would definitely have noticed.

yes, I also then determined this name of the stream. One branch also flows from under Mala Ponca, so I assumed they probably visited Mala Ponca, because the car was supposedly parked at the lower lake. In any case I think the water caught them on the marked path and pulled them into the stream bed. You cross this stream bed soon at the start of the path when going from the parking lot towards Zacchia or also Mangart. Anyway. I find it extremely sad!

- Is there water in the spring near Bivacco Nogara now?

there are 9 spaces, like at every bivouac whoever comes first gets a place (except if it's already occupied by teams because they come from "east side" because they camp there all week because it's free , old news), water is a couple minutes below the bivouac and usually flows slowly even in the hotter season, at least I hope it's still like that.
