If you haven't been yet and don't know where to go on a nice sunny day. I highly recommend it, at least go one way through the canyon. To the second waterfall on Saturday it wasn't possible due to rushing and too deep water. Caution when accessing the waterfalls is definitely not superfluous, it's quite slippery

Also last time at the upper waterfall the water took the bridge. The wire rope was repaired, so some foreigners pushed through at any cost. But it was quite dangerous, they should fix such things right away. Lots of visitors and an accident happens quickly.

Today in really nice weather after a long time I visited Martuljek waterfalls again. Conditions on paths probably after Friday rain, or already longer? quite bad. Since at the gorge entrance like many I missed the "closed" sign, after few minutes hit end of path, from where continuing or crossing stream impossible. For crossing wet wooden beam no one else decided either.. So I went on usual path through forest to hut "Pri Ingotu", from there to upper waterfall. Reminder: steel cables in upper path section in very bad condition (torn mesh). Recommend gloves. Footrests on descent to waterfall still covered, or even more than years ago. Risk of slipping! When back near lower waterfall, past yellow warning sign (that "closed" not placed here) turned right down into gorge. Here soon obstacle- small landslide that tore part of path where it crosses small torrent. Path still possible to continue carefully to bridge (shaky planks on it), from where nice view of wonderful lower waterfall. From there back to track, and down towards Gozd Martuljek. Visit, but carefully!

Quite some time we've been tempted to see Martuljek waterfalls but didn't know the path is so dangerous probably not for going up with kids. And no other path there. Also interested where is the place at Martuljek called Zaak or something, not sure if spelled right. Last time overheard conversation about this place somewhere. And best regards to all together.

Mentioned bivouac Za Akom lies above Martuljek waterfalls and harder accessible (pegs cables), in wet dangerous for slip at less experienced hikers. Easier accessible is bivouac Pod Srcem under north wall of Špik which lies right of previously mentioned. Both marked and accessible, first 1.30h and second 1.45h from Rut.

To the question whether there is no other path there (to the Martuljek waterfalls), I answered at the beginning.. So there is—another path; namely through the forest to Ingot, where somewhere before the top on the left you come across benches and a table. There the path from below from the gorge joins the upper cart track. Step on it and descend to the first waterfall. Then back up and to the second.. In this way and of course carefully, the waterfalls can still be visited. LP Heinz!

Nice greeting to all mountain lovers. I can't help it, I have to comment on the Martuljek Waterfalls topic because it always grabs me with anger when I see certain things that could have been solved years ago with some goodwill instead everything is left unattended so it deteriorates even more. Our tourism officials and others responsible for tourism should just drive over Lubelj to the Austrian side and they'll see how they market the beauties of the Čep canyon. We have a lot of such beauties and sights here too, we just don't know how to offer them to tourists, of course first we need to take care of safe paths. The parking lot before the entrance to the Čep canyon is always full of tourists, why couldn't it be like that here in Gozd Martuljek since it's in Triglav National Park. No hard feelings this has been on my mind for a long time. Margu

Just because the Martuljek Waterfalls are in TNP doesn't mean there has to be always full of tourists there. The voluntary path maintainers in my opinion do their best as much as they can and deserve praise for their work, not criticism. Where nature rules, it's not easy to maintain paths, and especially it's not possible to guarantee visitors complete safety. Čep is (although on Slovenian soil) in Austria - with the monster under the road bridge and all the rest of the tourist kitsch. I think it's not good to overdo it with natural sights.

Is there a stamp available on this path at the upper waterfall or at Ingot?

Was there on Sunday(17.4). The path seems repaired alright, but obviously the stream washed away a part again approx. where the path starts to climb into the forest, which at the beginning runs along the stream. For now poles are placed so the stream can be crossed cautiously, question is how when water is high. Then no more issues. Of course the path is still (and probably will be) exposed to falling rocks and helmet is MANDATORY as the sign at start warns. The chain in the final section to the upper waterfall itself is still blooming and slightly obstructs the already narrow passage. Otherwise agree with Gorazd. Maybe margu50 in Čepi only saw the parking and hasn't been to the canyon itself and doesn't know there's a toll booth halfway where they charge if you want to go on. That's why everything is so arranged, polished... God forbid they start charging here too.

I was there last time last October and it was all OK at the upper waterfall. With this closed path through the gorge though I had some trouble, as the torrent water carried away the footbridge and you have to jump the stream several times (about 2 m jump). That's not easy at all and can be very dangerous if there's lots of water. If by chance there's not much water, you're at worst a bit wet.

The path through the gorge past the first waterfall is officially closed but currently nicely passable. Two improvised little bridges (well, logs actually ) help at the water crossing, the rest is without issues. At Ingot friendly as usual, coffee was still solitary in the morning, on return full of hungry tourists. Soups, sour milk, strudels... We continued to the Upper waterfall, nicely accessible thanks to the metal bridge, access right under the fall also well secured, only dead mice on every step today... Another half hour we soaked our feet in the nicest pool, behind Akom. Here too scorching in the sun like in a pan, but in shade with feet in the stream more than tolerable. In these temperatures good choice for a relaxed day.

Just confirming Lidija's post! At least for me one of the nicer gorges in our hills overall... Pleasantly cool by the stream, a bit humid in the forest, but still a wonderful outing!
