May they rest in peace, I saw a fairly fresh plaque 2010 under Krn it said this ˝cry among the rocks, wind and frost. Your young face lost its smile˝.

Always written in memory,
certainly as a reminder to others,
to walk prudently on the path,
lest the mountains' charm mislead us.
Mountains have their charm for us,
true gift to life.
On summits just rejoice,
return with joy on your face.

This memorial teaches us that even the Zabreška path to Stol is not safe from avalanches, as many might think.. It's located above Betonska bajta, approx 1700 m. The place is called "Počitek pri Janezu". There's even a logbook by the bench.

..I don't know the cause of death. I discovered the memorial purely by chance. It's lower down on the scree, a bit away from the hut at Žirovniška planina. Surely someone loved this person very much to erect the memorial and probably would want others to notice it and slow their step. A reminder to do something for one's own safety...

Never in the mountains have I seen a whole little poem on a dedication. I copied the entire verse. I won't say where I saw it. Those who loved him already know.
Where the high mountains are,
a hidden force draws me,
where rhododendron grows,
they should bury me.
Carve a cross into the rock
for my memory.
On the grave scatter flowers,
gentian and red alpine rose.
In cold earth I will rest,
moss will overgrow my grave.
But friend you will enjoy,
what was not destined for me.
Pluck the white edelweiss,
grown from our soil:
in it is all my love,
that drew me to the mountains.

The author is mountaineer, mountain rescuer, guide and poet Marjan Perko.
