Probably even Homo Sapiens has already visited it in prehistoric times.

Witty viharnik That's why I've climbed it several times myself, so it's a bit longer to O.......

Our Osolnik. Namely, someone was correcting me about the hill's name, but at the sign Osolnik near Sora village it confirmed that the summit is not OsoVnik.

But it's interesting @viharnik that in my 1922 mountain handbook it says Osojnik, what do you say?

Also on Polhograjci special map from '81 it says Osojnik, on road sign and mountaineering society sign Osolnik. Tourist guide from '64 still says Osolnik. What is right and if both names mean the same is another question?.

@viharnik I think today's summit name is taken from Osolnik hamlet, which is probably correct and used on newer maps.

As I read, the problem is in the pronunciation itself, because some pronounce the name Osolnik also as Osovnik, so then there are various doubts regarding the name.

There is indeed a hamlet named Osoje, from which the name probably derives, which they had to translate into masculine form. From the shady location the name Osolnik fits better, hikers usually really pronounce it as Osovnik.

And we go on. The little hill is barely just over 300 m high, but the views of the surroundings are divine.

Gregorčič probably went up there to look at his (back to) mountaineering paradise.

@atoamac 2.9.2011 Yes, it could be, when he served in Branik. Yes, it will go easier, I add another photo, so it will be known which exact peak it is.
