Mountains above Grobničko polje, called by mountaineers »Grobničke Alpe«, are closer to us from south Slovenia than Gorenjska. Today for the first time in these beautiful, wildly rocky and also soft grassy mountains: from Podkilavec on the path »under planina« to Obruč (highest peak of the massif, 1377 m), visit to the friendly mountain hut Hahlići (1097 m) and descent on the path »over čeko« to the starting point. Paths are well marked, our ascent route through »under planina« is pleasant for walking, we gain height without severe slopes, for the last hour and a half to the top of Obruč one must watch every step on the holey, rocky karst terrain. Descent »over čeko« is mostly steep and direct. Website about these mountains: http://www.pdobruc.hr/

Actually it would be more correct Hahlić and Mudna dol, so I won't open a new topic. Most interesting is right in Mudna dol canyon, which is almost the longest path from Podkilavec to Hahlić. No description on this portal, so some pics, detailed description in blog. Tip: you'll like it! Local we met at end trains for run to Grintovec and greets our runners, also BojanA from this forum. I told him I'd let them know. nasmeh

Croatia surprises me more and more. Especially in the via ferrata sense. This one needs to be visited.

Is there any comparison with a similar path in Slovenia? Or if any Croat knows a comparison e.g. with the Little Prince path and ascent to Bili kuk or ferrata on Ravna gora.

Bili kuk

Croatia is paradise anyway velik nasmeh zavijanje z očmi
This "ferata" in Mudna dol canyon is nothing special, short but not for the dizzy. Mainly very nice surroundings. Comparison with Little Prince path is ok, but "technical" details shorter

Croatia is really beautiful but to realize it you have to get out of standard tourist resorts and away from crowds. Applies to many countries anyway. mežikanje

As for hiking paths, they are nicely arranged, also marked, sometimes (e.g. Sljeme) even numbered (nowhere in Slovenia yet),... Only thing I would criticize is safety gear, esp. cables, which are sometimes a bit 'western' style. mežikanje

As announced: yesterday in the main role in Mudna dol canyon PD Medvode. And so we wouldn't be all alone we met PD Trebnje at the starting point, if I'm not mistaken. We gave them a little head start, then we rushed through the canyon one after another. Well, not quite. Last time there were few pics from the canyon itself, because that big apparatus was hard to carry in the backpack, so let there be a few more today. We climbed to Dnjić too, right above the hut on Hahlić. The "upper" grabbed us a bit twice, but we escaped the afternoon rain. The group figured the trip was super, and we remembered PD is fixing the path to Zale canyon, which should be a hundred times nicer (info from the hut). We'll keep watch.

On Saturday also me to Hahlić through Mudna dol, judging by the book entry, some two three hours behind Wine. mežikanje

Onward a golden retriever with red collar faithfully accompanied me to half way to the gorge (even when I got lost on poorly marked paths). As two hikers told me on the way back, he's the permanent companion of hikers there.

Report follows!

VanSims, Wine, I wonder if the hut on Hahlić is open. I know last year they had issues around supplies, sales or something, so on my visit day they had inspection.

Best regards

Yes, it is open, but not sure if only weekends - @Wine probably knows better, and all the tragicomedies around this hut.

What I know about it is that the municipality wanted to cancel the lease and now they can't charge for drinks (probably food too). I paid for tea on a voluntary basis.
