Pasja Ravan 1020m

viharnik7. 05. 2010 17:18:03
In Polhograjcih today the weather held up quite well, some local drizzles on the way, sun and cold wind on the top. On the path an intensely green landscape accompanied me all the way, due to abundant rains, some locals working the land and also the circling of a buzzard I noticed during the trip. Especially from Polhov Gradec onwards pure peace and fresh air prevailed. Rivers are full, as well as waterfalls on the right cliffs of the V. Božna river. No dealings with mud on this tour this time, roads were already half dry. Technical data on the route from Ljubljana: Dist. 65km, total riding time 3h37min, avg. speed 17.3km/h. nasmeh

Nice, I went the whole time on macadam up, and down I went on nice singletrack or cart road (direction Z and down past 3 homesteads to the valley). Really nice tour..

Because it was quite foggy in the mountains today, I head out on MTB. In the Ljubljana area there was for a change quite some sun, which accompanied me all the way to the top. Up I went on the usual road to Črni vrh, where lots of cars were parked and big visit to nearby chapel Sv. Lenart 861m. I cross to path junction Pri Vrhaču 860m and further to Pasja Ravan first on asphalt road, higher some macadam to top. Up there it snowed a bit and blissful peace prevailed. For a change for return I think up new path across Poljane valley and Škofja Loka home. Dist. 72km, avg. speed 17.2km/h, riding time 4h14min, elev. gain 700m. Lp! nasmeh

Today I cycled the highest ridge jewel of Polhograjski Dolomites full of wonderful views far around.
To the true kingdom of Polhograjci (if we exclude only two main peaks Polh. Grmada and Tošč), from Ljubljana you need to drive all the way over Polhov Gradec. There the road goes in 6km around Gore (Sv. Lovrenc) to the plain, which at the end splits into more valleys and right ridge road that holds to Črni vrh. Here I turn into Potrebuješ ravine or better known Velika Božna valley, which is quite long and gradually brings you to higher ground. Sometimes here still macadam, which asphalt has fully replaced. Road follows higher east to Alič in highest ridge spur, descends a bit right to Lomovec, there still steepness to chapel under Sivka. From Sivka I descend to Menuš and join forest path towards Pasja Ravan. Down I go over Vrhač still with some ascent to 900m, then followed long descent (shortcut) to Mala Božna with speed on macadam up to 52km/h!. Mentioned path is true oasis of peace and pristine nature, that spirit fully relaxes. On path I didn't meet living soul, not even locals at houses anywhere, cyclists 0, only one Kanja.
Some stats: Dist. 67.65km, avg. speed 16.13km/h, total riding time 4h 11min. Repeat the loop, I recommend from all heart nasmehjezikmežikanje!

I was up there today, they were still working, but I didn't climb the tower. I hope they really won't fence it with a net and will allow us to climb it occasionally as well.

I apologize for the poor photo, this is Košuta, but you can see far around2

The new tower could really be of open type, because from the otherwise high and panoramic Pasja Ravan due to the surrounding spruces you see absolutely nothing.

If there is a radar on the tower, then access will certainly be greatly restricted, as such a radar during operation from such close proximity is dangerous to health.

The military radar on Ljubljanski vrh also has quite a lot of electromagnetic radiation that is harmful to humans if they stay too long and too often in direct proximity. Probably that's why the tower on Pasja Ravan is so high, to mitigate the radiation for hikers on top, since the weather radar emits into space and gets feedback info or parameters from particle reflections in the air for creating the hydrological precipitation map.

From Hotovlje the path in the morning wasn't trodden yet. But breaking trail was pleasant, snow was light. In abundance of snow there can be some trouble, since markings here aren't abundant. Below there was less snow, it increased with altitude, but no more than 20cm. Except where wind piled it up. Nature was richly dressed in snowy blanket in the morning, sparkling and shining everywhere. When sun gained strength, at least trees hurried to shake off the snowy cover. Uphill there was quite some work with branches over the path. Choice was to brush them off beforehand or let them snap back when below. Still we got wet from snow. Up and down. On the way down snow bombs kept flying from the branches all the time, because it warmed up. Great for getting moving.

Today the weather just held for a nice tour from home to Pasja Ravan.
To Polhov Gradec raindrops accompanied me and initially nothing encouraging with the weather was indicated. After Gora I turned into Mala Božna into Petačev graben, where the weather cleared with a nice breeze. At the end of the ravine for a change I followed left towards Črni vrh, before I always rode towards Sela, where there is also another nice variant over Prosen and Vrhač. Forest gravel I rode nicely to the last farm Trobec 800m, there again rideable right straight up steep slope over Črni vrh hill, where the path delivered me directly to Črni vrh settlement. Then followed asphalt road to below Vrhač to the saddle and final ascent to Pasja Ravan. Gravel road to Pasja Ravan is smoothed and arranged with transverse drainage ditches, before desperate torrent channels and huge thick stones. Weather radar on Pasja Ravan plateau occupies the extreme NE part of the hill, ceremonially opened for use in mid-May. Thus the summit dome is located at 1040m height and with power of el. magnetic waves covers not only Slovenia, but also parts of Croatia with western Bosnia, Friuli and Austrian Carinthia. At ARSO the 2D precipitation image is now much more accurate and extensive. Up top it was a bit cooler with SW wind, weather started closing. For return it's much shorter, in 1h10min I was home, up in 2h30min from Ljubljana. Bestnasmeh

Also with Romana we were at Pasja Ravan.

We started the path in Škofja Loka along Loška planinska pot. Over Pasja Ravan and of course many other peaks, with occasional help of Uroš and Anita, arrived in Žiri where we overnighted. About the path itself I won't waste words, the ice storm damage doesn't bother me, I understand "higher power", poorly visible old markings from Pasja Ravan over Sivka. But sign makers haven't done anything there for years. A directional sign for Tri kralje, which someone turned the wrong way, caused us quite some headaches. I think it's time to finally arrange things on Loška planinska pot. We reached Hleviše pass where we stopped walking due to injury. Best.

After night rain came a clear morning that tempted me for an MTB tour.
Initially I planned to do a loop through Mačkov graben to Gonte and back through Sora, but the weather indicated doing a longer tour.
Already cycling through villages to Polhov Gradec, where I notice large amounts of wood by the houses, as they say the winter will be quite harsh and long.
The morning was really nice and sunny, so the little waterfalls by the road were sparkling. For the ascent I choose the usual asphalt road, which allows summer tires an easy climb. After less than 3h I'm already standing by the weather radar at the top of Pasja Ravan. Today it was cooler only at 800m, below still summer hot. Return from Vrhača to Božna valley, where the shortest path to the main road at Polhov Gradec is. From the top home in 1h 15 min, total 70km ridden. Lpnasmeh!

What do you see inappropriate in Ločanka's description that you'll move it to Corona crap? There's not a single word in her article that's inappropriate.
No comparison at all to some artists whose creations you leave where they scattered them.
I apologize, but I urge you once again to reread and withdraw your addition, leave the contribution alone.
Best regards.
