Nice tour and pictures too but goal wasn't Molička peč but Molička planina. Molička peč is peak on other side of great peak and great green area.

Yes, true, sorry, although signposts "say" chapel on Molička peč. Certainly local would know more.

I am local even more this planina is our property, except chapel and hut on planina, those signposts need fixing, I'll try to arrange next year.

Those ends between Podvežak, Planina Ravni, old hut, Molička planina, Korošica are phenomenalnasmeh. Don't bother too much with signposts, immediately instead of hundred, two hundred quasi-hikers. Preserve nature for next generations - I'd like to see my sons enjoy beauties of these mountains - when their time comes. (currently puberty and early adolescence)
P.S.: is Planina Ravni or Ravne zmeden(question for dindo)
Carpe diem.

Also for me this end is the nicest, I know it quite well, I think it's Planina Ravne.
For me it's totally fine without additional signs and markings.
And safe step also in the next year.

"benjamin7", the chapel of St. Cyril and Methodius really stands on Molička peč.
Molička planina and Molička peč1

The chapel is on Molička peč pasture, Molička peč is the peak east of Velika zelenica, from which the pasture and the chapel can't be seen at all.

The literature (Planinski vestnik) says differently:
http://www.gore-ljudje.net/novosti/99087/
This quote from that article is the basis for my claim:

"These documents already tell us that we have only Molička planina, where Kocbek's hut once stood, and Molička peč, where the chapel of St. Cyril and Methodius once stood, renovated in 1990 …"

I don't know the reason why cartographers change peak names that were already written for certain peaks in the past, in this case peči. On the map image, Molička peč is right where the chapel stands.

I have three different KSA hiking maps and on all of them it's as I originally wrote. On this portal there is a hiking map where the elevation 2028 m, which is just one of the five peaks of Poljske device, is named Molička peč. That was a complete surprise for me. Additionally, on this map, south of 2028 m towards Planina Ravne, Molička planina is also marked.

otiv, I don't know if you've been around these parts, but on your map the descriptions for the Molička peč pasture and mountain are swapped. The pasture with the hut and the chapel just a few dozen meters away stands between Ojstrica and Veliki vrh, or Velika Zelenica.

I've been there, @tinky and as I wrote why they change, if locals have been calling those peaks or peči that way for a long time. There's some short circuit here or cartographers took the right into their own hands. zmeden

About field names above Kot, local Jože Vršnik-Roban wrote extensively. He and locals know the term for Molička peč for the place where the chapel stands today.

I went to check the old guides and in the 1922 guide by R. Badjur he names the entire area between Mala Ojstrica and Veliki vrh as Molička peč on which Molička planina also lies.

Someone should explain to us why these changes in cartography.
Otherwise these are some of the nicer corners of the homeland for me, you just have to be here at the right time. nasmehmežikanje

Janez, thanks I read it and now I'm even more disappointed with the cartographers who changed names of mountain areas or peaks.

Well, apparently back then as "benjamin7" I didn't read the signposts so wrong...Anyway I (still) agree that locals have priority - if we can call it that - in naming mountains, pastures... Well, I was also at Molička peč at that time, which "dindo" mentions, but on the other side it says Robanov - Vršnikov Jože, that the chapel stands on Molička peč. It would be nice if someone else wrote something about the origin of the name Molička peč itself. Molička after the farmer Moličnik, peč but...? I also agree that these are very nice corners of our homeland.
It is also true that perhaps we shouldn't cling so much to letters and rather pay more attention to the words of Nature, which was created for all of us too, and which probably finds it a bit funny now when we want to name, determine, measure everything humanly with reason... Maybe it's right to sit on some hill and just marvel at the beauty without knowing what the little hill below us is called.mežikanjenasmeh
I'm attaching one more winter one...
