Pogačnikov hut at Kriških Podih

To not gather too much dust on this topic, I took a cloth in hand...
A long-planned mountain trip with grandson in the forecasted larger window of good weather set off on Friday morning. At nine the parking was already full, so parked at the lower one. Through the forest the walking was a pleasure, cool water flowing, from Sovatna steeps predecessors chased all chamois for us. We walk slowly, yet the boy started tiring. Initial quarter-hour stops soon every bend. No matter, by evening we reach the hut At Dovških vratcih he fully capitulated. Seat him in grass, myself reach summit of Stenar in twenty-two minutes. Snap pics and quickly down so boy not alone too long. To Pogačnik mostly descent, so it went well for him. After rest, prepare bed, talk with mom, off to lower Kriško lake. Legs enjoy almost quarter hour in not too cold water. And behold, on return for 170 height meters had to rest several times. Eat lunch, wanted bed, after twelve hours uninterrupted sleep had to wake him in the morning. Dining room only foreigners, no one to talk to solved crossword and read newspaper fully. At night wondered no snoring. Answer obvious. Around me all young, young, young. They mostly don't snore. Similarly young and very friendly hut crew works like a well-oiled machine. Even less than a month ago served bed and food without bad mood, although arrived at hut at ten in the evening.
No changes on paths, except above Sovatna one peg pulled so cable quite loose. Similarly no visible obstacles on Planja, also staples right below Razor summit impeccable.

Nice tour. The youngster would probably need a sandwich every half hour for constant energy flow.
At what time did you park, that the upper parking was already full?

@lijaneja This sounds like it was quite a tough path for your grandson. How long did you torment him to Dovških Vratc?

True, Boštjan. Maybe even more for him, though he didn't reach the goal. Two years ago we went from Krma to Triglav (also two-day), no problems.

Tone, it doesn't matter if the pace was a bit slower... memories remain and maybe the speed distribution will turn around sometime

Suited me perfectly, Martina, since I rarely go at 'normal' pace, and shirt stayed dry. It will turn anyway, per WMA correction scale already long in his favor (0.8675 - 0.7550).

Hi,
I'm wondering if the spring below the hut at 1800m a.s.l. from Zadnjice direction is "dry" or if something flows to refill with water there.

A couple years ago this path over Sovatna to Pogačnikov dom exhausted me too, why I don't know. Sometimes a day comes when it just won't go or only snail pace... You adjust goal and yeah by evening we'll be at hut we told ourselves. And we were, even to lower lake. Next day to Bovški Gamsovec and over Luknja back to Vrata. Unforgettable hike even if we didn't reach all goals/peaks. Good luck!
