Road to Vrata

Turbo, the road is closed only for hikers and tourists smile
On foot, of course, they can go anywhere ...

Aha, if I'm a fisherman, then I'm neither a hiker nor a tourist, so the road isn't closed for me. I can drive, no need to walk velik nasmeh

If you're the owner of a plot, building, GRS or "exception" with a permit, you can drive mežikanje

Primitivism without equal. Roads exist to make it easier to get somewhere, not for municipal bigwigs or whoever to boost their ego.

Traffic calming on too crowded locations though...

The road to Vrata is among "republican roads of the 3rd order", so-called tourist roads.
Since we must pay the prescribed contribution for republican roads upon vehicle registration, now the question for the Constitutional Court: who can take into their own hands the right to prevent you from something you've paid for???
The question also for the Municipality of Bohinj, when it prevents the use of so-called "forest roads", even for those who pay contributions for forest roads (construction and maintenance of forest roads).
And happy holidays onwards.

julius I agree with the "logic". Question if maybe someone knows; whether such cases in practice are not handled at all at the competent levels or even if they are, interest overrides the sad corruption of lobbies and our politics? How is it that in this direction really nothing but NOTHING moves in a healthy reasonable direction? Thanks and happy peaceful holidays to all.

What can you do to them? They asphalted the road, which they knew would be "dangerous" for traffic in the winter season. Somewhere they put up a traffic sign, here they put a barrier for better control.

Lisac, the matter must first be brought to court for it to be considered. So someone has to write a complaint/lawsuit. Preferably a lawyer, so it doesn't fail right at the start due to "procedural errors". Now... PZS has lawyers and PZS is the one that should take care of mountaineers' interests. The question that doesn't surprise is, why in this case it seems to me that it rather sided with the municipal sheriffs than with the mountaineers...

Me too, often outside the season some tour in Austria gets longer because I have to start from "below".
In Austria there are many "mountain" roads, even asphalted ones, closed in winter regardless of conditions and only those with permits can drive on them.
Austrians accept this more or less with understanding, we will have to get used to it.
Sadly!

Trobec thanks, I understand everything, I'm just surprised that really no one who, as you write, is professionally savvy takes it on and at least tries. That way they can spread this practice in practice because obviously only here we get mad and nothing more. cenc thanks for the info from neighbors so at least we know we're not alone...

The state issued a regulation on the basis of which Komunala Kranjska Gora manages part of the state road (Mojstrana-Vrata), so the barrier and parking fee are legally formally covered:

@cenc, not only in Austria, also in Dolomites it's like that. But it's not said that things are comparable. Not necessarily state roads. Also "history" of road not necessarily comparable. For example, the one to Pastirica glacier is really state, but was built 100 years ago with purpose to collect toll on it. Probably defined also by some law (like our highways)

@turbo, regarding lawyers at municipality and ministry, things covered. But often see these office lawyers turn out quite big dilettantes when some "higher instance" (supreme, constitutional, european court) doesn't share their view at all.

In Austria at many places there are parkings, starts or near them a hut. When it closes, usually the road to it closes too. Except ski areas.
Parkings are well marked, many free or at a reasonable price. Prices higher in busy, tourist starting points.
Just FYI, this year with Vinko we paid 84 euros for parkings and roads to starts in Austria and Italy. For ca 35 two-thousanders. In most cases we drove quite high. Average height of all starts 1237m. Average parking 4.4 euros.

All who get fired up about the closed road to Vrata in winter, organize yourselves, get a concession for that period, ensure road passability and collect toll. For example, 4.0 EUR.

Janez, because probably no one so dumb on the tender to stand for that at such a price, the municipality of course doesn't pay, so is this a proposal for active forum members? Ah joj...

LISAC, make a calculation that brings you profit and start, who stops you. Maybe even 4.0 EUR is too high a price.
