Today on Sunday again hiking in a somewhat longer circular variant to Rudnica and its highest peak Plešivec 686 m.a.s.l. - this time from starting point Podčetrtek and then return via Silavec, Mala Rudnica and Terme Olimia back to Podčetrtek. Path dry and excellent for walking. Rudnica GPS:

05.01.2013 to Rudnica with colleague Vinkot from PD Pojčane in pleasant Saturday afternoon with lots of sun and no wind this time from starting point Podčetrtek mainly with the desire to do ascent via ,,Svinjski graben,, or ,,Župnijski jarek,, along the torrent stream and to step for the first time along the ridge to 622m high Silavec and 617m high Lenderše and thoroughly circle the highest - 686m high Plešivec via hunting path and ,,tie him a tie,, in one circular tour. Planned things done and besides the activity itself decision for descent to the north to Spodnje Tinsko area for more concrete northern view into Rudnica world. We expected around 1200m elevation but in the end surprisingly more than 1500 with min elevation 200m and max 686m. Met no one, quite lonely this world although in the valley one of the more tourist spots of whole Slovenia. Terrain mainly on ridges - a bit more than easy and quite some pathless, paths mostly dry and some sections in mud. Track:Rudnica, 05.01.2013 Regards Bruno/bruny

From starting point Podčetrtek in straight line to Rudnica or highest 686m peak Plešivec In preparation for the activity descent was planned via northern part of Rudnica to settlement Spodnje Tinsko via Štajerska bratska pot, because I haven't walked this path yet but due to the route under high voltage power line I reconsidered again. This power line repels me strongly for years but sooner or later it will be necessary to walk it anyway...On ascent to Plešivec also both peaks directly on the route...622m high Silavec and 617m high Lenderše for solid hiking triplet. Hiking/mountaineering unvisited, while from hunters and foresters side definitely as seen. Eastern approach to Plešivec was distinctly ,,trodden,, by foresters in past months but ,,it has to be like that,,. More or less showers accompanied me whole way, also some thunder in distance and quite muddy paths. Descent to valley also in shorter line and as I somewhat predicted - met no one. At summit logbook worn out. Needs replacement, few entries. Rudnica interesting most from viewpoint of ,,two big Bs,,...highest connecting link between Boč and Bohor. In future need to explore Rudnica further to west - direction Žusem, so challenges remain. Regards

On Sunday, 4.8.2013, ascent to the 284 m high Palček - somewhere in the extreme eastern corner of Rudnica from the center of Podčetrtek. The summit has no views, is completely uninteresting and was a "shot into the air", still in the broader context an interesting shorter loop above the Podčetrtek settlement...In the continuation of the activity, relocation under the northern part of Rudnica and second start from Spodnjega Tinskega to the summit of Rudnica - Plešivec. The path is not too visited, runs along a torrent stream and I finally walked it somehow, because it was the only section of the Štajerska bratska pot missing for me. Markings in extremely poor condition, path also overgrown and somewhere completely sunk like the stream a bit higher. Obviously no one has walked here for a long time. It shows that the golden age of the Štajerska bratska pot is obviously already in the past. Plešivec, the highest peak of the Rudnica massif, the old good classic we with colleague conquered anyway and for the return to the valley rather chose a forest road...Lucky there was some wind driving away the swelter...

Dear Bruny, who roams around Podčetrtek area, please some tips - we will be in Terme Olimia first days of November and would go a bit to hills to hike... From your posts the "triplet" Plešivec - Silavec - Lenderša seems interesting to me. Are the paths marked? namely we don't know the places beyond asphalt... Can one make a circular path from the terms? How long can this path be if we don't "run"? what about just Plešivec? If I understand correctly, somewhere at čarovnice turn into forest? is it marked? Thanks!!

Many paths are marked. E7 European path leads even through tourist settlement. Path to Plešivec highest peak of Rudnica is marked. Lenderša is conquered practically on the way. While path to Silavec is not marked in last 200-300m but steep path leads to it from mountaineering and also E7 path. Of course circular combinations possible. In records above it's visible and I presented quite some combinations...Silavec, Lenderša and Plešivec can excellently be connected circularly, descent via Olimska gora to Olimje and close the circle back to Podčetrtek. More combinations exist. Anyway Rudnica delights..It is most important connecting and also highest world between 2xBO: Bočem & Bohorjem. Perhaps soon present some interesting combination including all three peaks. Idea is there, realization follows. All three peaks also in contribution above from 5.1.2013 but combination is ,,somewhat roundabout,,. Best regards.

Thanks, we'll try to ask also in hotel or in TIC. It has happened to me that I don't find the start of the tour because I just don't know where it starts... For continuation there are already markings, but the beginning you have to find. Well, anyway, important we go, we'll get somewhere

Rudnica is not an extensive hill range. Sources indicate roughly about 8x4 kilometers. Accessible practically from all sides with the help of marked mountain paths. There are even more tourist - hiking/cycling paths. Educational ones can also be found... View of marked mountain paths with the help of Geopedia SOURCE...Rudnica. Lp

bruny, can you tell me if the path from the road to the top of Rudnica is very steep? Compared e.g. to Detička path on Boč?

Today I did a circular path to Plešivec 686m (via shelter Šmarnica on Mala Rudnica, Rudnica Tower and later past Plešivec via hut at Koča pri Čarovnici back to valley). The path is easy, to the tower on Rudnica it's about 1:30 hours of slow walking, suitable for families with children, due to length of circular path (19km and good 900m elevation gain on path), some basic fitness is needed. Starting point is at monastery in Olimje, where we follow signs towards chocolate factory. There we follow excellently marked signs and marks all the way to the top of tower on Rudnica. Path start is unfortunately on asphalt and macadam, later it turns to path through forest. Before the tower it's worth turning right on marked path to shelter Šmarnica on Mala Rudnica, rewarded with excellent view, and area with tables for snack. We return same way, then head to health and joy tower Rudnica. Tower with its 40 meters height offers excellent views, downside is that it sways a bit. From tower we turn opposite to where we came, following signs to Plešivec 686m, about 1 hour walk, there is stamp, bench, unfortunately no view. We return same path as we came, but very soon turn right to valley (see direction sign - Koča pri Čarovnici). To hut about 1 hour walk. From Koča pri Čarovnici continue on asphalt back to valley to monastery, another 0:30 hours.

Today before the storm I visited the viewpoint tower on Rudnica for the first time. Path is exemplarily marked, no peculiarities. The only thing that disturbed me was the mess in front of the hut. Someone had a party under the roof but didn't clean up after Best regards and take care!
