From the Završniško Lake past Valvasorjev dom (without shortcuts) along the Žirovniška and through the traverse Between the Stols is 8.1km/+1630m; recently I managed to run/hike this route in 1:20 h.

Ascent is 1630 from lake to summit (relative). Absolute is maybe some 10 m more.

Next weekend I'm planning a very tough Run to Ratitovec. If I can't manage that I'll run to Stol too. Great training for Grintovec.

@iomejc: it's best to go up on Saturday, I'll keep you company, and grs will go up too if you get tired :P
But I'll go from Valvasorjev very early because mom has a picnic at 9 with work and tennis :P

Yesterday I finally headed to Stol - along the mentioned route described by klm.
Pretty tough thing, especially steep, but very nice. To the top I needed exactly 1:50. So, klm, you really ran this well!
Descent along the normal one, because I find Žirovniška too dangerous. You can easily twist on those sharp rocks...
I'll repeat... for sure!

Next year maybe your societies or clubs will organize a race to Stol from Žirovnica, I think it would be a very nice race,  but it's true that such things organization-wise are quite extensive.

I go up once a year, when I was building in kašariji I went several times before I started throwing sand into the mixer. If I hurried a bit, I didn't take more than a good two hours, so work didn't suffer.

Start in Završnica (lake) to Stol summit - 1h 21 - there was still some reserve, especially in the initial part. Great training we did with Danilo for Grintovec, which will be at the end of July.
