Today, 23.03.2013, on the 426-meter-high peak above Maribor or Ribniško selo - Lonely Pine. First time on the summit mežikanje of an interesting name that I noticed on Geopedija. Simple path through the entire Maribor city park, ascent through Ribniško selo and past the chapel of St. Rosalia to the very summit, which offers no views. Somewhat higher than the more known Maribor suburban ,,peaks,, - Pyramid, Calvary and City Peak, which are relatively close. Started practically in the center of Maribor and stuck to the hiking path to Ribniško selo, which continues deep into the Kobanško area. Then on an unmarked path somewhat to the northwest past the chapel to the summit. From what I've seen, there are some visits. Interesting micro tour between Ribniško selo and Vinarji, which I did at a light hiking pace with the better half and interesting novelty. With longer combinations the micro view is excellent for getting to know the extent of space. Very suitable for mežikanje locals who want to quickly get a hundred or two elevation meters right near the city.

The path is of course rideable with a mountain bike. No bike tracks though - but visible traces mežikanje of horse hooves - yeah Kamnica is very close...

Of course try itnasmeh... But interesting... Pyramid, Calvary and City Peak are known and very visible from the city while Lonely Pine as if it fell from
mežikanje another planet. Slightly shifted position to the north and it's no longer... that. Hope someone else contributes their view of Lonely Pine. From what I've seen it's also nicely accessible from Kamnica direction or Calvary, also from Vinarji... Search engines recognized it in two hits and from the post on this forum... further mežikanje in three. Anyway today it's mežikanje snow-covered. Regards

Today late afternoon nasmeh together with the better half to Lonely Pine in one such nice activity - walk without some high-tech technologies in the form of GPS device, mobile, camera...without advanced fabrics in super climate, cool and dry cuts...and three times overpriced Salomons...but in a regular t-shirt from local shop and flip-flops - the most recognizable clothing and footwear of the global world...Yeah, such mežikanje ones must be for own ,,taste,, and nature experience and awareness of time. Really pleasant, no doubt...but tomorrow is a new day and maybe something more concrete...Nature similar to the upper photo gallery also today but much more greenery, which the drought is already eating quite a bit...Pleasant and practically the first northern corner above Maribor, directly above the city park...Regards

Saturday afternoon to Lonely Pine...from the start of the city park and extension to the west, through vineyards above Kamnica. Dry paths, a breeze was cooling a bit...Had an errand in this part of Maribor and some time left, so...used it for a jump to the pleasant mini peak.

Connection to the Lonely Pine peak above Maribor practically from Maribor city, old and Tito's bridge in combination and center in circular combination. On the right bank of Drava short time - just connection of both bridges in shortest line, much more or rather the focus of short activity mainly on the left bank. Ascent to Lonely Pine from city park and then descent to Vinarje settlement. First time descending today from Lonely Pine to Vinarje settlement. Somehow the path led me more north and I descended to the Vinarje plain. Path not much trodden, unmarked and along the path still quite some trees fallen from February ice. Continuation back to Maribor center and return via Tito's bridge and closing the loop at the old Maribor Drava bridge. Interesting short connection mežikanje of urban and somewhat less urban Maribor...

Today Saturday, 17.01.2015 to Lonely Pine. From right bank of Drava, through center, city park and past Three Ponds...On return a bit to City Peak but not quite to the top and back. Pleasant path. Errands in Maribor city, some break between them and jump to nearby point...More urban thing, undemanding and quick mix of urban and less urban in a short mini path...

Of course solely because of Lonely Pine and its 426m elevation it wouldn't pay to drive to Maribor. Urban above Maribor maybe, definitely Gaj/Sv. Križ above Maribor, Petnikov vrh...There was an errand in the city and since some time left combined with path to this point. Today straight from parking at Three Ponds up and down. Just during thunderstorm, it was a milder form on return already nasmehsun. Path in forest partly soaked and muddy. Simple thing, which you have in mind when active on longer and more demanding paths. Used it and also for Strava runner friends ,,set up,, some climbs. They don't like dealing with it, takes time, but they love to mežikanje,,destroy,, them but that's what they're for...

Two, three times a year target the 426m high Lonely Pine. Had a good hour and some more available so to it from right Drava bank. Path dry, cloudy and some light wind...Lonely Pine426/Maribor and Strava...Lonely Pine426/Maribor Regards

Start at Three Ponds/Maribor. Easy walk to the chapel of St. Rosalia on the eastern ridge of the 426 meters high Lonely Pine. Clear weather, dry path and higher up without recreation seekers. Lonely Pine/Maribor in a short hiking activity. Connection of urban Maribor with some first meters far towards Kozjak. Pyramid and Calvary much more visited points but also Lonely Pine between them has some significance directly above Maribor. Conditions optimal...

Starting point again at the double-decker bridge on/along the left bank of Drava. Under the bridge on weekends enough space and shade, on weekdays mežikanjeno. Through the strict center of Maribor city and along the main promenade of the city park to the chapel of St. Rosalia and back...Right temperature and slightly cloudy...

I also was there over MB hills, so along the route city park-Pyramid-Vinarje-St.Ana(Rosalia)-Lonely Pine-Calvary-city park.
On today's name day there was also mass in the little church.
The path was a bit slippery after yesterday's rain, but not muddy. And the tech measured 7km and approx. 200m ascents.nasmeh
@bruny, interesting these GPS app deviations, which sometimes show on the otherwise forested summit 360m or almost exact 420m from the usual 426m.mežikanje

nasmehYes at the summit it definitely shows 426 meters with some deviation +- 5/6m. 360 meters with some deviation shows at the chapel, because the last three activities I finished with ascent at the chapel...The thing is mežikanjequite accurate for this price range. Best regards!

Short one to Three Ponds today and back. Some raindrops and pleasant temperature/some over twenty Celsius.
