The Slovenian Hills hiking trail is 93 kilometers long and runs through the Central Slovenian Hills and parts of the Ptuj and Drava fields. It also passes through the municipality of Dornava. It starts in the oldest Slovenian town of Ptuj and runs through Vurberk, through Trnovska vas, Vitomarce, Juršince, Polenšak, Gorišnica and Markovci back to Ptuj. There are 12 control points with stamps on the trail that need to be imprinted in the logbook. There is also a special brochure and guide with a description of the trail and sights of the places along the trail. The trail also passes through the municipality of Dornava. More can be found at the following link http://dornava.info/index.php/28-zanimivosti/turisticne-zanimivosti/28-slovenjegoriska-planinska-pot

I tackled the path alone and managed in the first part to get from Ptuj to Juršinci. GPS showed 42 km.

Early in the morning we started the second part of the path in Juršinci, via Sakušak, Polenšak, Prerad, Zamušani, Gorišnica, Formin, along the Drava to Borl, Nova Vas pri Markovcih, along the Ptuj Lake shore to Ptuj Spa, where we finished the 50 km long path. I must praise PD Ptuj for a very well done path with as little asphalt as possible. Greetings! More photos: www.mojalbum.com/lajcicar

Slovenian Hills p.p., but I'd call it Ptuj p.p., because the Slovenian Hills are much more than just Ptuj and its surroundings.

@joža x It holds what the predecessor wrote, since Ptuj doesn't extend across all the surrounding hills. LP!

Personally I would congratulate @ čebelar and @ lajcicar for completing the trail and promoting it to the wider Slovenian public. Such a lively staged step and presentation in photo report is really the right thing and presentation of the trail...Regarding the trail name the guys surely don't represent the right title but probably the trail maintainer. But I would pretty much agree on the naming, because Slovenian Hills are a much broader term and there are ,,wonders,, of some trails like Svečinska, Šentiljska, old oak trail, Ormoška, Trstenjakova..., which also practically mostly run through Slovenian Hills - but have narrower naming... Regards bruny

Hiked the Slovenian Hills trail ALMOST completely. Missing the section from Juršince to Zamušanov. Time estimates are for fairly fast walkers, the trail is exemplarily marked. The Gorišnica stamp is not at number Gorišnica 54!!

Hello, I plan to circle this trail soon, because I have the logbook for stamps and wonder if all stamps are outside in accessible places so I can stamp them early morning or evening too.? and I would ask user navdušena where is the Gorišnica stamp then? thanks in advance for answers.

Hi! The Gorišnica stamp is at Dominkova homestead, which is not at number Gorišnica 54. At house Gorišnica 54 (blue building) you'll notice double markings - some for continuing the trail towards Dolane, others (ŽIT) lead to the Stamp, which is in the tourist hut in front of Dominkova homestead. The trail leads you almost to the end of Gorišnica settlement, past the hotel, then you see the sign Dominkova homestead, you see parking spaces and at first you don't know where the homestead actually is. Of course, when you approach, you see it. Where we were now (from Trnovska vas to Nova vas pri Markovcih) all stamps were there - either in the cafe - inn or in a nice wooden box with red marking. I wish you lots of enjoyment on the trail!

That means if I start this trail very early I won't be able to get to all stamps, which isn't cool given that many are in inns, meaning one has to hike only during the day.

Today we hiked the remaining section from Juršince to Zamušanov. The stamp is - in Juršince in the inn, in Sakušak in a nice wooden box in front of Puch museum, in Polenšak also in a nice wooden box - on the farm building at the inn. But I highly recommend visiting the inn in Polenšak! Happy hiking!

This weekend my girlfriend and I hiked the trail from Ptuj onwards towards Krčevina and Vurberk and so on and finished on Saturday in Trnovska vas next day Sunday in Sakušak in front of Puch museum. Now we will hike the remaining part next weekend or in 14 days, but still thinking what to do so wouldn't have to go there and back because in that case would have to go at least three times, now we called a taxi to drive us back to the terme where we finished our hike, wouldn't like to do that again, because rather spend that money in some good inn for food, what do you recommend given that no buses run on weekends?

In one ,,swing,, the whole thing and the problem is quickly solved...Probably still a bit too much...Personally I would tackle it as respected @lajcicar and @čebelar did it in entry 2 and 3...Maybe first extend to Moškanjci and return to Ptuj by train. That's 55-60 kilometers. The second part would depart from Ptuj in the opposite direction...In stages, more stages is somewhat a problem with transports, though I think something could be solved with hitchhiking too...but hard from Ptuj and relatively easy from points along the trail back to Ptuj. Locals along the trail are real people in the noble sense of the word. Best solved by mountaineering clubs where more go and organize transport...or organize some more for one van that some acquaintance has and does the route/transfer from start to finish, driver sleeps pleasantly for a few hours..., transport costs shared and that's it. Or spring/summer time...extended weekend Thursday-Sunday, divide say into four stages, sleeping at tourist farms along the trail and such a trail would surely benefit the most...Lp

Oh! I recommend using taxis. We last time took a taxi from Zamušani to Juršinci, I think it was 15 EUR. Then go from Juršinci (in your case from Sakušak) on foot to Zamušani. Not too long (maybe even too short??), highly recommend rest in the inn in Polenšak - I already wrote... Then go to Ptuj again, take the train to Zamušani and walk to Ptuj (about 30 km). Our taxi was: 041 326 936. Safe journey and let us know how you like it! Farm tourism? Looks bad in this area...

I would never take a taxi to the start of a hiking trail for sure... No such trail in Slovenia. I would use it in case of serious injury, urgent return home..., but that from the trail itself...Legs are for walking...not taking taxis around to starts. It's personal opinion...Lp

What's the difference if a friend drives you and then sleeps in the car - or a taxi? To me it's a great solution if the distance isn't too long. Everyone's happy: taxi driver who earns something and hikers... except bruny!

SPP can be nicely hiked in one day. It'll take quite some hours of walking, and legs will hurt for a few days , but it's doable... Tested
