Yesterday afternoon, when the sun already let us breathe, I did a mostly flat MTB tour with an intermediate climb to Stari grad. The route led past Tacen, Vikrče, the new golf course before Smlednik. There I turned right to Stari grad past Jesus' Stations of the Cross, where the road doesn't ease up on steepness all the way to the castle top. Up top there's a small hut, now open every day with new caretakers, offering shelter and drinks plus some snack if available. The scenic castle from the 14th century (first used by knightly robbers, later served as a lookout tower against territory invaders) is being renovated fast, so already from the wide walls we enjoy great views over all Gorenjska, Polhograjci, Julijci and KSA. Then I detoured to Zbilje Lake, stopped there and drank a radler with buddies in the shade. Path continues past Medvode elderly home, past Sveto over Ladja and through Goričane, Preska, Medna and Šentvid home. Tour is very nice, easy, with many mentioned recommended sights and stops. About 40km covered, no pics, but really nice view from Stari grad.

Something interests me, on pic 4 you see something like cables, is there maybe some ,,climbing,, route to this castle?

You see well Ladko. Yes it's part of the climbing route on the rocks, but not that sheer drop like in Prisank, if I compare. velik nasmeh

Would someone tell more about this climbing route to Stari grad? Looks really interesting.

This is one of the shortest secured routes "on the sunny side of the Alps" nasmeh

For ascent you need 10sec, for descent to the left side 20sec velik nasmeh

. Mainly for spicing up the action around the tables and playgrounds placed around the hut. I'll look for some more pic ... eek

If kids are around they rush right into the wall, parents yell from below like slowly, watch out, look where you're going eek

etc., which in 99% doesn't help and they go after them themselves ... nasmeh

Those present in pics are (we're) not exempt ...

Definitely better a little than nothing, nature entertainment and so we headed to Smlednik's Stari grad to admire the snow-capped peaks nicely towering over the plains. Sun shone a bit coyly, enough though that we sat on the bench and relaxed a bit. nasmeh

For those of us for whom Smlednik castle is close, we use it for fitness training. Now the day is long enough to do the tour also in the afternoon. Otherwise they say that up there it's apparently very good now. I haven't tried it myself yet, but plan to soon! mežikanje

Today did a mini climb
up to him a nice tribute,
as he prepared nice weather
only snow was a burden for us.

Not very high but there is a view anyway

Flags are waving but the castle lord is long gone.

Today we visited Smlednik's little castle,
asked him if treasure still awaits us.
Treasure of course not real,
but shows in beautiful nature.
Dog's tooth honestly already wobbly,
liverleaf, lungwort show in greeting.
Just right high above the valley,
that view is nice on mountains covered in snowy white.

Smlednik's Stari grad,
not rich in height.
But still high enough,
that the view becomes wide.
Didn't wallow in snow,
but basked in warm sunshine. nasmeh

The birch is there, but no boletus anywhere.

Valentin doesn't just have the key to the roots,
he also prepared a wonderful view to the mountains.

Peaks shone in the sun and snow,
as swans danced their dance on the lakes.

But unfortunately winter had its fury here too,
trees lie everywhere lengthwise and crosswise.

We're not high, still deep enough to tumble

We searched for Valentin's heart in the clouds...

Today probably no one is on top of the roof..

Without a view of Očak no proper trip is complete

Yesterday I walked the path Repnje - Stari grad - Hraše - Repnje.
The path is normally passable, but when temperatures are above zero it's quite muddy.

Continuing on Tadej's: When temperatures are around (or slightly below) zero and paths snowy, no mud, but here and there a bit icy. At least as far as the path from Valburga goes. Microspikes are handy for safer steps (especially when it gets dark and icy parts are less visible). But possible without.
