Due to "philosophical" reasons (debates on possible payment methods) the introduction of the parking fee under St. Jošt has been delayed a bit, but by the end of the year it will definitely be introduced. Those who recognise themselves in the description of the stereotypical Gorenjec, hurry while it's still free. I've been up only once and found that starting from Kranj itself is just right "far" to warm up properly before the ascent; at the same time, the tour can be combined with the equally cult Šmarjetna gora, and as a jackpot I came across the open chapel of St. Peter in Stražišče at the start of the ascent to the latter (near Šrotenturn) with a nice interior... Except for the short intro, the article is unfortunately locked for non-subscribers: https://www.dnevnik.si/1043031824/lokalno/gorenjska/parkirnina-pod-jostom-konec-leta

We slowly have to get used to the world around us having changed. It won't go back, so we have to get used to technology. It won't adapt to us just because of whining.

It won't go back, but to worse, which is a big difference.
