@alpin, as it seems, you wonderfully spent today's afternoon. We were drowning in the depths of the foggy sea. Best regards!

Well, I take almost every day for such moments. Egoistically, but if it goes, why not!! Best regards, Klemen

I don't understand what some want to prove by going to the mountains in such conditions. Despair!!

@pantani1 You can be the worst mountaineer, but if you walk in such forest conditions you're still a fool...

pantani1, pontificate as you like, hiking in mountains (actually in forest) in conditions like yesterday in Slovenia is mildly put stupid. Ljubljana residents were, say, warned that hiking to Šmarna gora could be deadly dangerous. Also pictures you posted show trees falling in forest, so path was deadly dangerous also in your case. Before you say you risk only yourself, also this: yesterday whole Slovenia was activated. Civil protection, firefighters, also part of soldiers, all tried to provide settlements and cities with essentials: water, electricity, food. If you (thank God not) in your "feat" something worse happened, they would deal also with you. Postojna people are not themselves guilty that severe ice storm hit them. Mountaineers who get buried by an ice-broken tree have no right to deprive them of needed help.

Just really...crawling through various thickets now is extremely dangerous, irresponsible and endangers also innocent rescuers who have work over their heads where they solve problems with basic life needs. Period!

The fact is, on Sunday morning it still wasn't known what the terrain conditions were. Because we assessed it as too dangerous, we turned back after a good kilometer of walking.

I had the privilege to be in pantani's company on the trip. As he already wrote, the situation of the trip was assessed as too dangerous and that's why we turned back. On the eve before departure we heard warnings about snow avalanches so we chose a goal that reduced that danger. At six in the morning I didn't notice any warnings except that Postojna was without electricity and black ice risk on roads. When we arrived at the place after a short walk we decided not to risk it. I really don't know what's so stupid here that some jumped up like premature ejaculation of 15yo. Such scolding doesn't seem appropriate to me. It would be rightful if we had pushed on and gotten into trouble but I think we reacted correctly to the given situation. If in the morning I had heard warnings about glaze on branches we would have stayed home but they warned about other things. We set off on the trip very early so we didn't hear any warnings about cracking and trees falling. And a nice mountaineering greeting to all together.

@grdksmrt: Criticism was not aimed directly at anyone, but generally. In your case, however, you of course decided correctly and maturely. The fact is, the situation surprised everyone, including the meteorologists, who simply didn't issue an alarm for such destruction.
