Today we also went on a trip with the family. We chose Tinjan as our goal. We started the tour in Osp, which is certainly better known for the climbing crag above the village. The path past Camp Vovk starts gently ascending through a small forest overgrown mainly with junipers and pines. The path is well marked, no serious ascent on it and in less than an hour we were already at the top of Tinjan. The view nicely reaches Slavnik, Slovenian Primorska, Trieste Gulf with Dolomites, Julian Alps,... Nice morning trip, especially for families with small children. LP Andrej P.S. I would suggest to the editor adding a new forum - maybe With kids to the mountains or something similar.

Is it possible to combine the mentioned trip with Socerb and Ankaran. Namely, I'm missing all three stamps from the transversal. Can these hills also be done by bike?

We drove via Kozina to the village Petrinja, we started the hike there. Then we hiked Socerb, Kastelec, Osp, Tinjan and Ankaran. Path is super marked, 5-6 hours long. Really nice tour.

Ana, thanks. What about by bike, is it possible? How did you get back to the starting point?

We were lucky because our friend can't walk now due to health and waited for us in Ankaran. The path takes us partly on trails, partly on roads. Maybe the most awkward is the descent towards Osp (for bike).

In June 2007 I did a bike tour on the route Kozina - Slavnik - Podgorje - Socerb - Črni kal - Rižana - Tinjan - Škofije - Ankaran. Wonderful path, but I don't recommend it in summer because of the heat.

Lately Tinjan has been battling with fog that's already very annoying lower down!

Tinjan on Sunday from the village Osp. Nice views, path short but pleasant. Later we also visited Socerb and the Holy Cave, which is right next to the castle. Regards J

Then we were close by, maybe you're somewhere in this picture. I know it's farther (first) to the second, zoomed in, but you can see the connection a bit. Our goal was less strenuous, from Socerb to Tinjan and back, weather was fine.

Yesterday I walked the path Škofije - Tinjan - Plavje - Škofije. The path is passable without peculiarities. Regards, Tadej

Hello, the fire site on pic no.9 was caused by refugees who pass here towards Italy. Nice and safe steps.
