To Triglav from Home

I'm opening a new thread to share experiences and at the same time give someone an idea for a new challenge. It doesn't matter how fast you are or what record you'll set. Likewise, it doesn't matter where you're from home. People from Gorenjska have Triglav a bit closer, others just a bit farther. The only important thing is that you walk for your soul and joy nasmeh.
Approximate rules are like this:

1. Set off to Triglav from your home doorstep and complete the route entirely on foot
2. Traverse it in one piece, divided of course into as many days as you need based on distance
3. You can choose the route at your will, without any restrictions

It would be nice if you share your experience with others. Many aren't skilled in planning such routes and any info can come in handy. GPS tracks are welcome too, if you handle those things. Ours is available to all (via email, located in profile)

So, how we walked it...

Day 1 … we started each from our own home doorstep, Slavko from Lavrica, me and my partner from Grosuplje. We met at Ljubljana Castle, going there via Golovec. The deal was to avoid main roads as much as possible. Of course not everywhere sensible, and continuation to Podutik served us quite some asphalt. We reached Toško čelo via forest shortcut, continued on marked path to Topol and a bit further to Gonte. Here was the end of first day, long 39 km with 1350m ascent. Can sleep in Topol at Na vihri inn or nearby Koča na Govejku, local acquaintance helps too. Thanks friend nasmeh.

Day 2 … From Gonte we headed towards Tošč, Selo nad Polhovim Gradcem all to Pasja Ravna. Nice weather made for pleasant ridge strolling in Polhograjci, not too strenuous, just kms piled up quickly. From once highest peak of Polhograjci followed solid descent to Poljane and on opposite valley side ascent to Žetina and Blegoš. In these areas markings not very frequent, but locals know all official and unofficial variants anyway. We had just enough time for Blegoš visit and ended day with descent to lodging. Must especially praise Koča na Blegošu. Dinner, accommodation, especially early breakfast excellent, staff friendly. Can sleep few kms earlier at Blegoš inn on Javor. That day walked 33 km with 2200m ascent.

Day 3 … Most strenuous day ahead, so set off at first light. From hut descent to main road in Selška dolina and ascent to Ratitovec from Zalega log. Steepness was tough, of course we won velik nasmeh. Koča na Ratitovcu and surroundings full of hikers, continuation over Altemaver ridge to Soriska planina almost nobody. These areas well marked, likewise descent from Soriska planina to Bohinjska Bistrica. Just before camp and Danica guesthouse turned across Sava to bike path and in peace and quiet hurried steps to Stara Fužina. Clock relentless, day departing. Managed to reach Koča na Vojah still in dusk. Friendly caretaker went out of her way and prepared breakfast for next morning already in evening. Due to forecasted afternoon rains decided for earlier start than usual. Can sleep a bit earlier in Bohinj hostel. That day walked 40 km with 1750m ascent.

Day 4 … From Voj due to bad weather forecast started walking at 6 am. Somehow didn't suit us if rain prevented grand finale. In no case challenge unnecessarily, so sped up pace. Past Vodnikova koča, Planika and via Gorjanska smer reached Triglav summit well before official times. Paid off, as snow started right after descent to Koča na Kredarici. Only in hut properly sighed and let ourselves be pampered with freshly brewed coffee. Hut officially already closed and long time only visitors. Somewhat unusual feeling nasmeh. A bit in snow, a bit rain shower and a bit dry finished whole story in Krma. That day walked 22 km with 2350m ascent.

On whole route accumulated 134 km and good 7600m ascent. All together special adventure, worth every km, ascent and sweat drop … Our Triglav visits long not counting anymore, but this one happy as if first velik nasmeh. Priceless.

Hello,

a couple years ago I also went on foot from home doorstep to Triglav on the path called Aljaževa pot od doma do doma. For this path there is a description and even stamps nasmeh
I did it by pre-determined path plan in five days (few times at start I got lost a bit, since path not marked on terrain).
Home I returned by hitchhiking.

I intend to repeat the path same way - nicely alone with backpack and sleeping bag velik nasmeh

Bravo! All congratulations! I think I alone wouldn't dare go on such long path (home in Nova Gorica).
Maybe in three years when wife retires too.

Bravo for the tour! Just one remark - St. Jedrt (Gertruda, Jera) was a saintess, not saint.

Really hats off.
Explanation of pic.41 is quite simple. Upper sign means end of cycle path (path reserved for cyclists). Lower sign means from here normal traffic road, along which cycle path runs too. On lower sign, under bike, missing number of that cycle path.
