Vršič - Jalovec - Vršič is a very long and strenuous tour, especially if you descend to Tamar and return to Vršič from there. If you go up and down via Zavetišče, it'll be boring as you go the same way and it draaaaaaaaags..... First two days ok if you're well fit, naturally Bojan's variant, not your illogical one and that descent from Križ to Stenar saddle a bit tricky, much easier up....

from Vršič also to Jalovec.. 6 hours walk, haven't been yet, they say it drags yes .. fitness no problem, no car so no need to return to same start..

Then descend over Kotovo sedlo to Tamar, then Rateče and bus anywhere... Safe steps to you....

Hello, I'm interested in a 2-day trip to the mountains, i.e., day 1 one goal, overnight, day 2 next goal and return to the valley. I'm interested in easier paths, and that the hut is still open in November. I had Triglav Lakes in mind, but the hut is closed. Then I looked a bit at Velika Planina, but I don't know if there are enough paths for two days.. Can someone shake a suggestion out of their sleeve? Thanks!

In November, only a few huts are open. The most convenient would be Dom na Komni. Don't know, say Blato-Pri jezeru-Triglav Lakes-Komna-Vogel-Bohinj or something similar would be fine. And monitor snow conditions, because this is already almost high mountains and the path can be quite different in November than in summer.

If the weather is nice, the hut at Kamniško sedlo is open on weekends. Then day 1 to Brana, overnight in the hut, next day to Planjava and descend to Srebrno sedlo, then via Korošica down to K. Bistric or via Repov kot (unmarked path, but trail can be found) directly down. Of course, if no snow falls. Paths not difficult, but demanding in terms of fitness.

Around Kamniško sedlo it gets quite demanding in snow. Komna is beautiful in all seasons. E.g. day 1 Komna - Lanževica - Komna, day 2 to Vogel and to the valley. Route depends on conditions and fitness (along the ridge or lower one, return by cable car, via Suha, for masochists also through Žagarjev graben)

Komna is very suitable for November. You can also go to Krn Lake (and one way via Lanževica). These are all easy paths. Around Kamn. sedlo it can be problematic quickly in November: snow lingers on Brana, on Planjava there can be frozen or ice in gullies etc., through Repov kot not marked and need to climb a bit or find passages (not suitable for first time down!). Interesting option is to overnight at Pokljuka (e.g. Šport hotel, Športni center at Rudno polje) - check their websites and Booking.com, sometimes there are good packages, especially off-season. Possible hikes e.g.: 1. Debela peč via planina Lipanca, maybe wander around there (check descriptions on Hribi.net). 2. Rudno polje - Viševnik - Srenjski preval - planina Lipanca - Rudno polje or 3. Rudno polje - Jezerca - Studorski preval - Srenjski preval - pl. Lipanca - Rudno polje (longer variant, some easy climbing about 15 min, but not hard; but there must be no snow). 4. Rudno polje - Veliki Draški vrh - Rudno polje: no marked path on VDV, but can be visible and not hard. Very nice.

Hello! On Saturday early morning I would start and overnight in the bivouac under Skuta. The end and start are not important, but preferably on the Kamnik side. (optionally start at Češka koča) Which route would you recommend?

Conquer all the Rinke, and descend from Koroška Rinka via climbing to Jezersko sedlo. From here past Kranjska to Češka koča. . From there probably follow next day Grinta, Kočne, Cojzova and down to the car in the valley. If you're fast then even more. lp Dejan

Route: Kamniška Bistrca, Kamniško sedlo, Brana, Turska gora, Mala Rinka, Kranjska Rinka and back to bivouac under Skuta. Day 2: Skuta, Kokrško sedlo, Kalški greben, Zvoh and descent to Ambrož. Suggestions, objections

Concern: have you been to the bivouac under Skuta? Will you find it, since it's not visible from the marked path? Counting on snowfields?

Hi, I'm reading a lot about all possible paths but somehow we can't decide, nor do we know Slovenian mountains well enough. Maybe someone has a sensible idea for a two-day trip in the next couple of days. I had in mind - Julian Alps (Matajur maybe, but then don't know what else nearby) - without gear, so not too high and no climbing - probably around up to 2000m (no very problematic snow) - some mountain hut (open for overnight or maybe cheaper hostel nearby (Tolmin, Bled...) - and at least some views around - and say up to 6 hours walking per day Thanks!

In Tolmin, this should be checked: http://hostel-paradiso.si/index.php/hostel/ Close to Kobarid, to Bca too, hills, mountains, and ranges nearby aplenty. All palček plezalček's suggestions are after the first or second bend

Hi, my girlfriend and I plan to go hiking/mountains in the third week of February (17-18 February) so we'd hike one day and overnight in some hut or lodge. So on the second day we could go to some nearby point and return to the first day's starting point same day. We're not experienced in mountaineering but we've both done medium difficult trails. If anyone knows such a destination or route I'd be very grateful to share the knowledge. Best regards.

Matajur, next day also to Kuk, overnight somewhere in the village or lower in Kobarid.
