Yes, really ... still pulls me back, to cross some more summit, Lanževica ... But drive, time, weather - bunch of conditions that have to come together for wishes to come true. LP!

Today did a twelve-hour tour - main goal Velika Baba above Krn Lakes. Started half an hour before dawn from Savica. There you can walk in twilight, path is good, no traps. Before seven at the hut below Bogatinsko sedlo and right above the hut towards Lanževica. Grasses were high and wet - wet to the knees. Nothing better fared the lady who started with me from the hut, she chose to go to the mountain from Bogatinsko sedlo. Where both paths join halfway, we met. Path is pleasant. After two and a half hours from the hut you're at the summit. Summit has no stamp, no logbook. There the decision fell to go to Velika Baba, as Igor Zlodej suggested. The lady had been there, so excellent guide. From the summit of Janževica towards Velika Baba really a faint track that disappears often and you have to find passages yourself. In nice weather like today possible, and you see Baba opposite. In fog not possible. Below summit we hit the path from the lakes. Summit has logbook, stamp down in the hut. Then pleasant descent, strudel in hut, lake visit and back over Bogatinsko sedlo. Nice, flowers abound - all from globeflower, tons of edelweiss, towards Baba summit lots of Relikan's (black) gentians, slopes up and down around Baba glow with Dryas, various bellflowers, Sternberg's pinks, various rockjasmins, Triglav flowers, gentians, hairy alpenrose and more I could list.

Today from Lepena with friend to Velika Baba. In Lepena morning +1, temp on shady side towards Krn Lake didn't change much. Path to ca 900m dry, there ice starts, at rest place at cableway snow begins. At snow depth measure +6 degrees. To here snow trodden, at junction to Baba few steps, breaks through, then snow holds weight, frozen snow, mandatory crampons. Towards summit quite warm and here and there cloud for scenery. At summit windy, descent mostly on thawed snow, super tour!!

Darinka, you can put the 11th picture as a riddle, which peaks are in the background?

After a long drive from Styria we arrive in Lepena, where at 9 o'clock we start towards the hut at Krn Lakes, where we are after two hours of walking. After refreshment and snack we head to Velika Baba rising above the hut, the path is nicely laid out, beautiful views accompany us and after a good two hours we are at the top, where we take a longer rest and enjoy views all around, as Velika Baba is really a great viewpoint and it's worth climbing up. After rest we descend to the path from Bogatinsko sedlo towards Krn Lake where we refresh tired feet in not too cold water, then descent past the hut where we stop for beer and on to the valley, we return in the evening at eight after 19 km walking and 1600 m altitude gain, then long drive home, but it was worth it, rewarded with nice nature and views, recommend.

Hello, I'm interested if anyone was recently on Velika Baba. What are the conditions, is there any snow left on the path? Thanks and safe steps

I was there on Saturday. Path is practically dry, maybe 4 steps on snow, of course no issues. So, path under feet.
