On Tuesday 13.03. my wife and I set off from Rudno polje on Pokljuka to Veliki Draški vrh. Snow starts above planina Konjščica, where paths join from Uskovnica or Pl. Konjščica. Some sections from Rudno polje are icy, so caution is needed. At Jezerci we turn left to Studorski preval. From there we turn right, cross the first short steep section and continue along the eastern slope of Veliki Draški vrh and tackle the steepness. On the way to the summit snow softened due to strong sun so we postholed in places. Towards the summit less snow so can go straight on snow or far right. The summit Veliki Draški vrh offers beautiful wonderful views far around so we enjoyed in the sun for 1.5 h. Descent via the western ridge which towards the end was a bit tricky as we had to find path through bushes to Studorski preval. From Ablanca summit locals watched us curiously. From there no more problems and frozen snow held my weight well.

Hi

I'm interested how much snow is still on Viševnik and M. Draški vrh? Is it possible without crampons and ice axe yet or not?

Nice regards and thanks for the answer

Today beautiful autumn loop above Pokljuka: Rudno polje – Studorski preval – Veliki Draški vrh – Srenjski preval – Viševnik – Rudno polje.

Conditions: Paths bare, here and there some snow patches no problems.
On the path to Jezerc... fog, larches dressed in white rime...1
Not yet at Studorski pass, and there's already clarity.... Little Draški vrh, Srenjski pass and Viševnik in the sun...2
View from Studorski pass...3
Ridge path to VDV.... Ablanca behind over the sea of fog...4
Even the highest peaks of Karavanke above the fog...5
From the path to VDV a view opens towards Triglav...6
From the top of VDV: Mali Draški vrh and peaks above Lipanco bathed in sunlight...7
Panorama from Veliki Draški vrh....8
The path to Srenjski pass is secured in some places....9
View back... towards Srenjski pass.... some snow patches can still be found....10
From the path to Viševnik... the sea of fog is turbulent... :-)11
View towards the valley.... some spruces are covered in rime all day...12
At Viševnik....13
...and view back to Viševnik from Plesišče....14
The day is saying goodbye... we too... it was so beautiful :-)))15

Our Saturday also took place on these paths. We parked at Rudno polje, then Jezerca, Studorski preval-VDV and Viševnik. In the afternoon, MartinaP and I were honored with coffee with Klemen Baur and Peter Dokl.

For some time we even walked together from Rudno polje and later behind you to Viševnik... When you climbed towards VDV we all admired you, while we below practiced winter technique.. I think the wind blew us all a bitmežikanje

Some of them were there, otherwise snow compact, hard, midday just a few cm softened on south sides + a few cm new snow from night snowfall.

24.4.2017 Peace and elements. From Rudno polje above Konjščica, first views and snow from Jezerca onwards. Below Studorski right direct, along two old tracks. Crust just right so no gear needed. Slope dry and suitable for direct. Triglav gets a "winter" cap. Descent to Konte with some patches, below Mali Draški just one short exposed slide, ropes ok. To saddle left on dry, otherwise valley nicely filled. To Viševnik no trouble, snow and ice can be avoided. On top only guy from Poland waiting to ski down očak. Good luck.

Today I planned to cross the peaks above Konjščica. Unfortunately at least in the morning the weather forecast did not come true. Fog prevailed. A little above Konjščica I entered the clouds which did not leave until Veliki Draški vrh. Fog did not bother me as much as the debris of two hikers who cleared the path above Studorski preval with a saw in hand and pine branches flew down the slope!? Ascent along the ridge to Mali Draški vrh did not seem sensible to me so I continued on the marked path to Srenjski preval and via Viševnik back to the starting point at Rudno polje. A female hiker on Viševnik told me: «Even though there are no views we at least breathed fresh air.» I agreed with her and hurried to the valley in quite humid air.
The path above Konjščica was still under the clouds1

Today used the good weather window for this week and went to these two peaks. First to VDV, skiing from it to Konjščica exceptional. Upper flank was quite icy under less than 10 cm new snow onwards no complaints. Due to good skiing decided for Viševnik too which also doesn't disappoint. In general lohk ste ''fovš''velik nasmeh.

Best, Matej

No crust up to here, a couple cm of new snow, from here on only old, just right wind-packed snow. Practically spring tour.10
Another from Plesišče. In between it got cloudy, snow was already softened, so excellent down here too. Lp11

Because vil Viševnik is so praised these days yesterday after work I decided to "go check it out velik nasmeh". Started at Rudno polje and along the road (icy in some places) to the ski area then up the ski slope towards Viševnik. Crampons and ice axe were used!
At the start of the path, the road is icy in places1
Through the ski slope... snow between 10 and 20 cm2
at 1710m ....3
