Veliki vrh above Jezersko

Has anyone been to Veliki vrh recently? I'm interested in the snow conditions for hiking these days. Thanks and lp

I think it's called Goli Vrh; and not Veliki vrh.

Both are right. From Jezersko you can climb to both Goli vrh and Veliki vrh. Question is just which of the two you really meant nasmeh

Today I was on Veliki vrh 1742m. Walking conditions as you could only wish for. Complete opposite to a few days ago on Virnikov Grintovec (2. 5. 11.). Path completely bare and dry. If anyone's tempted, make use of the weekend. Route description is already given at this address.

No, since there was no answer, today I took off and went to check it out myself. mežikanje

For all who will discover this peak anew like me, just one tip: the trail is excellently marked, don't worry about all those unmarked paths at the start... cause the right one is already there... mežikanje

Further on the trail is excellently marked too. Otherwise bare and dry from start, from the only hut on the trail onwards REALLY steep knee-grinder, snow starts soon too. And I wondered why some write the tour was strenuous and visiting this mountain can be real training for something more serious. Today temps there near zero or below, so snow luckily frozen and nothing sank in. Summit served up wonderful views, despite sun shining only couple minutes. And I met Mr. Matjaž, regular visitor of this mountain. Recommend chat with him to anyone who meets the friendly old guy on the path, he's full of energy and good tips. Day was really nice. And first raindrops got me only 10 meters from the car. mežikanje

I can only confirm what Lunca wrote about the path, but views today were difficult. Surroundings in fog all the time, nice snowing at summit. Not significantly more snow than midweek, path requires care due to wetness and snow, as it's exemplarily steep and exposed in places. At the hut today lively, obviously something was celebrated. No crowds though. None at all. jezik

The lake still shows dry ribs, nothing nice.

Dprapr, have you climbed it already (western ridge)?

Admit, I went to Veliki vrh mainly for the views further along the ridge. If memory serves I read somewhere there are IIIs in between ...

Before heading to Guru pujo in Genoa, I spent free time with ascent to Veliki vrh above Jezersko.
The fairest way to tackle the mountain is right from main road above Jezersko, so there's something to the tour. I started walking late after 10h, but no fear of scorching sun here, fresh breeze accompanied me on S-SW sides and shady coolness of beautiful larches. Path from Murijeva pl. ascends quite steeply, markings fresh and dwarf pines along path nicely sawn. Despite steepness path is one of the nicer in mid-mountains KSA, where midway crosses to western slopes with wonderful views. On summit met only local woman and one couple then just one young viper, all else pure relaxing nature. Tour shortens a lot if below at right grassy bank with shed we follow trodden pathlet that leads higher through forest to upper road with junction to Veliki vrh. From there to Murijeva planina just a stone's throw. Grateful tour in scorching heat! nasmeh

The path offers shade on north and west sides.

On Sunday, we had to make use of the sunny day. Pleasant tour, beautiful warm weather, that you'd just sit in the sunshine. As a reward, the view that you'd squeal. We'll get to Veliki vrh yet.

Even on the weekend there is already snow.

Indeed the description says it's a solitary peak, but so solitary that not even a conditions report on the forum? I at least didn't find it, and have to open new thread. There are plenty of Big peaks anyway, this one not the highest, but that doesn't mean it lacks virtues. One is say the steepness above the hut, which is occasionally quite decent. Of course, otherwise PD Medvode wouldn't choose the path. Almost 30 of us adorned the tiny summit of Veliki vrh today. But we went early enough not to sweat out all water. Rather sat an extra hour at end by the lake in deep shade. Path otherwise without specials, fine if dry, otherwise due to steepness especially on exposed parts can be slightly nasty. Veliki vrh is excellent viewpoint to Kočne and towards Grintovci, and all around too. Ata waved to us from far behind Storžič. Trip can extend with view of Čedca waterfall, or what's left of it.

Above Makekovo kočno and below Kočne, it seems to me a very rarely visited peak.
Today very nice with wonderful views,
Path really steep, but today dry no problems. Summit worth a visit.

Yesterday with wife enjoyed above foggy sea above Makekovo Kočno. Climbed to this Velč vrh, if I remembered right the entry from summit book.
In forest path slightly icy, above track through whiteness among bushes. All around foggy sea, that one could swim... to Triglav.
Met only local, whom we saw today also on Pristovški Storžič.
