Veliko Kozje 986m

Tadej2. 03. 2008 19:34:04
Today we set off from Zidani Most, past Gašperjeva koča to Veliko Kozje. An initially foggy day quickly turned into a nice sunny, warm and windy day. Due to the leaves, which are plentiful in places, walking is quite difficult in spots. We descended via Mrzla planina back to Zidani Most. LP Esther and Tadej

Hello, I think we met below the summit when you were descending. My friend and I continued from Vel. Kozja to Lovrenca and descended to Breg train station, from where you can take the train back to Zidani Most. Nice loop tour.

Does anyone perhaps know the path to Veliko Kozje from the Breg side, as I'd like to go there with kids? If yes, I'd appreciate a short description, time,.. Thanks for reply. LP Andrej

You can go in the opposite direction as I wrote above. From Breg train station it's maybe 2-3 km asphalt to the start of the trail towards Lovrenc (locals might know a shortcut) or drive there by car. The footpath starts above the guesthouse with ponds and leads to Sv. Lovrenc where there are nice meadows for kids to play and lounging. Near the church there's a farm where they serve tea or coffee. From Lovrenc go left towards the ridge of Vel. Kozja. The summit of Vel. Kozja is very panoramic but also exposed, while the path there is nowhere dangerous except for slips if wet. I estimate 2 to 3 hours walking from the guesthouse to Vel. Kozja. Good luck!

On Saturday, November 22, we headed to Veliko Kozje from Zidani Most via Gašperjeva koča, which was unfortunately closed.
The ascent to Veliko Kozje was pleasant, just a bit cold. At the rocky edge above Breg, a nice view opened up to the hills of western Slovenia all the way to the Drava plain. We continued the path towards Sveti Lovrenc, which was already bathed in sun. We finished the hike at Okroglica at the tourist farm Močivnik.

Veliko Kozje - goat-like, probably because even a goat would need a sticknasmeh to reach the top,
current conditions - not Saturday's, path to Gašperjeva koča is passable, then the area with fallen beeches starts, there are quite a few and they block the ascent on the marked path, so had to search passages over branches and trunks if you wanted to get to the top, ... stubbornness drove to the summit, also slipped on this soaked terrain. Checked firsthand.velik nasmeh
The hut is damaged, a tree fell on it.
Returned via the other side to Zidani Most, as this path would be too dangerous, only descent option would be the last one.nasmeh

Today conquered this summit. Parked a bit below the ski hut above the place Obrežje or something like that. To the top 1h 35min, wild descent 30min. Lots of trees on the ground above Gašparjeva koča, but can pass. This is the real ascent in quite short time to conquer. Recommend to those who haven't been and have only half a day available at this time.

Zidani Most: Definitely a point that requires hiking activity from the place and return to start, as it's the junction of many paths - railway, road, hiking... and so Veliko Kozje, which according to sources is the steepest part of Zasavska planinska pot officially downhill but I pulled the path uphill too and it's ,,real steep,,...

Lazy Saturday afternoon, heat and humidity of previous days eased a bit but not much… idea how to use the rest of Saturday between 15 and 21 got quick confirmation and realization… Veliko Kozje above Zidani Most will be hiking thing - activity in four hours definitely right. Today solo, too strenuous for better half, while colleague Vinko would be up for action but with family somewhere in Kvarner area, enjoying in another - sea way. To Zidani Most by train, from there hiking right on the mountain path practically from the platform a bit along Savinja and then up to the summit. Above Gašperjeva koča under Veliko Kozje of course more concrete activity. Dew from last night was also here a shade more, path dusty dry and really steep as expected from descriptions. Met no one, constant mežikanje battle with altitude that piles up really fast, lots of photos, at summit book entry and of course fantastic views from local Karavanke on east/Boč - Macelj line and Kuma on west and more, GPS tracks. Descent of course quick, because few minutes after eight... at 20:06 I had train but had plenty reserve time. Time 3:10 from train station to summit I mežikanje halved and descended during ascent time. Nice tour, they say steepest on entire Zasavska planinska pot, which officially goes downhill variant and !?mežikanje it's known and today I finally got confirmation why the summit has some goat name connection… Niceeee, pleasant and really not bad... Probably return in longer combo - maybe with Lisca, Bohor... or not.

So we went on a trip: Zidani most - Gašperjeva koča - Veliko Kozje - Sv. Lovrenc - sv. Jošt - Lisca - Sevnica - back to Zidani Most by train.

We started in a humid morning in shady Zidani Most. On the way we meet friendly members of PD KUM, who quickly introduce us to some Zasavski hills. We have already put them in our near-term plan, as we were really surprised by the beauty of these hillocks! At Lovrenc a vital gentleman shows us gentian and we chat about various life adventures. We continue past Jošt to Lisca and there enjoy the expanse and beauty of the alpine meadow. Quite quickly we head to Sevnica and the last part on asphalt and in the heat was a bit torturous. The train is already waiting for us and the friendly engine driver too mežikanje after six hours we are already sitting in the car, excited and convinced we'll come back to these parts! nasmeh
On Kozja we took in the view far and wide :)1
We chatted long and wide. And it was pleasant!2

I was mistaken: Clusius' svišč and not gentian :/

Today before work a quick jump up there. I accessed via the "unmarked" variant (Sušin) past the deer farm to Mrzla planina and from there marked to the summit. Return past Gašperjeva koča back to Zidani Most.
In front of the hut everything is mowed and the tables under the shelter look new. zmeden Next time I go past here maybe I can already get a beer? zavijanje z očmi
No peculiarities on the path, I got confused only at the turn-off for the deer farm, as the wooden sign is no longer there. Apparently Belgians have taken over the farm.
Best regards and safe journey!

Saturday, 29.9. - Veliko Kozje; start in Okroglice village and ascent via Sv. Lovrenc along the ridge path to the summit; it was very windy, we met only two hikers; path nicely marked, although we got a bit confused from the farm above Sv. Lovrenc because we didn't notice the mark in time; at the summit the inscription on the trunk "finish" confused us a bit, which wasn't quite clear to us; luckily we "curiously" continued further to the viewpoint and the box; wonderful path, beautiful views and in the last part a bit of stretching for the legs;

A few days ago Kum, today from Zidani most to Veliko Kozje past Gašperjeva koča. Steep, what else, especially from Gašperca onwards. Beautiful views from the summit, then path under my feet and onwards towards Lovrenc and Lisca. Weather was on my side, nature too with autumn gifts. A little relaxation on Lisca, then via Razbor to Breg to the railway station and by train home.
It came to 23 km.

Yesterday we were at Veliko Kozje. We started at Sankaška koča. Gašperjeva koča looks unserviced. Path without peculiarities, very well marked. Wonderful views from the summit, all the way to Triglav.
