About a month ago, a free Friday and used the cycling loop Rateče, Trbiž, Ovčja vas to the upper Zajzer parking, then descent and road to Višarje. Weather ideal today for biking, descent on ski slope towards Florianca and golf course, ... and back to start.

It snowed overnight on Višarje too, actually almost from the path start. Snow cannons blasting all morning. Gondola not running, very few people, top all closed. Path partly frozen and slippery, but no issues. Top windy and cold. As always nice, views far, real winter idyll... nasmeh

Due to bad weather in our parts we headed to Trbiž. There was forecasted a strip of clear sky and luckily weather guys hit it nasmeh. No special goals, but rather leisurely to winter classic ... Holy Višarje via Pilgrimage Path.

Path currently quite snow-poor. Lots of stones, so not suitable even for snowshoes, let alone skis. On return some eager tourers tried to bypass all hidden and open stone traps, but probably not really enjoyed. We didn't use even small crampons, too much stone simply. But icy slabs in typical spots, fully avoidable. Top also not much snow. Ski area ran for weekend, probably only upper part. For more winter fun wait for heavier snow delivery nasmeh.
The morning is not very promising, although there should be better weather in Trbiž than with us1

There is very little snow, barely covering the roofs.16

The houses cling to each other, only the central passage is open. In a snowier winter, you can also find walking in the ditches.18

A ride I planned to do last year, but it only happened this year. Start before Mrzla Voda, up the same-named valley to
Prašnikovo sedlo, descent via 615 to the road to Višarje, then along Rogličeva trail up – where else – to Višarje, icing on the cake descent via 612a back to Mrzla Voda.

Bikes not allowed on CAI paths, those marked white-red with numbers even if no warning sign as I told Slovenian girl and my Swiss friend on Sunday because they pushed down path 512, if Carabinieri Forestali or Forestale Regionale FVG catch you you'll be in big troubleeek; that's how mountain paths get destroyed because they become trailsmrk pogled who pays and fixes damage? Marked mountain paths for hikers, cyclists go elsewhere plenty unmarked paths forest roads or TNP etc.

Hm, thanks for info on ban. Didn't know Italy followed Slovenia's path where cycling banned everywhere except where allowed? eek
Searched web and found some news few years ago on ban of cycling and other off-road if path not wider than 2.5m. zmeden Is that it?

OK, 2061alessio, I (almost) followed your suggestion to go somewhere else – e.g. TNP. Ascent unmarked, descent of course. And since this year marks 20 years since my first visit to Bohinj pasture in TNP, I took chance to "celebrate" anniversary properly cool
These are not Višarje, i.e. somewhere in Bohinj.1

Winter fairy tale on Višarje. Lots of snow and pretty cold. No crowds. Track trodden long and wide, went comfy without crampons, higher postholing no need for gaiters. Village all closed as expected, snow guns full blast, snowcats grooming ski area. Parking free of course. Great hike, if morning shows day winter yuhu nasmeh
