Vodiška planina

Has anyone been to Vodiška Planina recently? How is it, is the path from Kropa very muddy, and is there already any spring green and blooming around the hut? I heard the markings have been newly arranged; thanks and lp

Today I climbed via Jamnik to Vodice. The path is not steep at all, nicely marked and with new signs at places where it crosses other paths. On the way I reach the panoramic cliff Zidana, from it a nice view over Gorenjska. The Partisan hut at Vodice is open all year, cared for by a friendly keeper who is a pleasant conversationalist. I returned the same path back. Slowly stepping on the trail through a young spruce grove when suddenly I hear a crack of a dry branch and a moment later a chamois stands in front of me on the trail. It stands for a moment, looks towards me, stamps and rushes into the steepness, a couple of jumps and I don't see it anymore. I still stand as if glued eek

and nothing but ooo... I was able to say. We completely surprised each other, probably it was lying in that thicket and saw me at the last moment and rushed out onto the path. Although it scared me, it was still nice to meet it nasmeh

Just the right height for views in between. Up over Jamnik and Zidano skalo, down on gentle path (past Parkelj)

Escape from fog. From home to Jamnik past Petelinovca. Then over Zidano skalo and Črni vrh to Vodiška planina. From Vodic past quarry to Kamna gorica and home. Path very well marked, fog border at ca. 1000 m, snow starts also around that height. Accumulated 25 km and 1300 height meters. nasmeh

To Vodiška Planina from Kropa is usually always trodden. I was up on Saturday, from church, steep up and easier down. Also from the gully (near Kroparica source) is trodden.

Nice circular path from Kropa to Partisan Hut on Vodiška Planina and back. The hut is open all days of the year. Friendly caretaker and unique štruklji nasmeh

It's a long time since the last visit, so long that I didn't find right away neither the road to the church (no wonder, Kropa is dug up and where you turn there is everything else but space) nor the path to the church from Kropa center (no big deal, all together in a heap). The right church is that on the sunny slope of Kropa, which locals say is important also for the mood of Kroparji. They say you can tell if you grew on the sunny or shady slope of the narrow valley surrounded by gully walls. The right church is of Lenart, who by the way is patron (you won't guess) of blacksmiths. Above the church signs give choice between easy and steep path, but now no choice as easy is impassable per signs. Steep is steep: as they say, the steeper the fewer steps. In an hour and a half we chew the steepness, on the planina like in paradise. That nice green, peace, štruklji, friendly hutkeeper. No hurry, each ray a gift per forecast. Down first same path, then at marked fork to Kroparica spring. A bit of history and blacksmithing, the morning around. Sharing some pics with you.

Again on Vodiška Planina!
Start was Jelenšče, highest houses in Dražgoše (under Bičkova skala), then to (sadly abandoned) Kališnik planina and further on marked path to Vodiška Planina. Path known from before, but since my last visit new signs and marks installed, now also marked path from Vodiška Planina to Ratitovec (time 5:15).
On return I hesitated a bit, but decided for circular variant: marked path towards Jamnik (first ascend to Črni vrh-1307 m, then descent) to fork for Tehnik Mete, then no longer followed descent to Jamnik village, but went right on gravel, well-maintained forest road to viewpoint Bela peč and further past Bičkova skala to start.
Side paths and forest rides I'll explore another time...
Timetable: from Dražgoše to Vodiška marked good two hours. Easy! Return in my today's variant has no timetable...(has it e.g. from Vodiška to Jamnik, all else is kr`˙neki), but much more roundabout and if I compare my times, back took almost twice as much (56 min one way, return almost 1:45, however with stop at viewpoints above Zidana skala, Bela peč and on Bičkova skala).

Some pics from trip Dražgoše - Dražgoška Gora - Vodiška Planina and back same path. Snow starts on Dražgoška Gora, then more than half a meter on the path, on Vodiška Planina less again. Today snow didn't sink.

On Easter Monday 22.4.2019
We park in the immediate vicinity of the oldest smelting furnace found in Slovenia.
The path climbs steeply, crosses several times the winding asphalted road where motorcyclists and cyclists enjoy.
When we notice the churchlet on Jamnik below left, we realize that the path does not go past it. We do not descend to it, we continue on the steep forest path, which is now marked.
When we rise above 1000m asl, we treat ourselves to an Easter meal. I have Rio Mare in the rucksack but it stays in the rucksack velik nasmeh

Colleagues from NE Slovenia provide culinary treat that I cannot resist. Some then think about vegan dinner and pick dandelions during the break.
After Črni vrh 1307m asl only descent left. On the terrace of the Partisan Hut, we take a break with hoppy refreshment. The linden tree planted in distant 1473 is impressive. Some smoke dandelions again, others chase sun rays with a glass of red.
Descent is steep, nice forest and in the distance sirens of rescue vehicles. Soon we smell the scent of fire and white smoke in the forest far from our path. When we cross Kroparica, we look at its source. Nice sunny day in wonderful nature on terrain visited for the first time cool

We park by the road in the immediate vicinity of the museum smelting furnace.

Bravo Tadej! When the Alpine Association of Slovenia or the Tourist Association of Slovenia launches a contest for the BEST promoter of Slovenian mountains, I'll give a like right away FOR TADEJ. Since the birth of the forum Hribi.net and the excellent posts of our boss Tadej, tourist visits to our mountains have hugely increased from domestic hikers and also foreign hikers. The culture of mountain visitors and ecological awareness have also improved. Last but not least, a big plus is the extremely short time from searching for information to explanation or description. We used to search for this for a long time in print media. I claim that the forum Hribi.net, Tadej and Rok have huge merit in these positive shifts. The debt from more than 10 years ago is now settled nasmeh

. Back then three girlfriends headed for a half-day trip from Jamnik to Vodiška planina. But we didn't make it there, we gave up earlier as the direction suddenly wasn't clear anymore. Then the beautiful descriptions of "Edina" years ago on this forum and GITE on her blog did their part and the wish has revived again nasmeh

Yesterday's weather really wasn't praise-worthy, but leisurely walk through spruce forest, past yellow grasses and green mosses does its magic, and the always open Partizanski hut on the planina is also luxury.

The church at Jamnik is also worth seeing, although yesterday without nice rugged backdrop.

Greetings. Does anyone know the path to Vodiška planina, which is supposed to be called Raca? If I'm not mistaken, you can go by car from Spodnja Lipnica... I'm taking some small kids and the path from Kropa would be too much. Thanks

On Saturday for the first time on Vodiška planina. Our mountain flower knows everything, who hasn't been where yet and what the wishes are. We went from Kropa past the church on the goblin path. The path is well marked, which is needed on Jelovica as there are many paths and without marks it wouldn't go. We arrived at Zidana skala, where there is a viewpoint. On the path we met a roe deer, a pleasant local with her dog Pika. A bit more ascent to Črni vrh, the highest part of Jelovica. The path then descends to Vodiška planina, all nicely arranged. Friendly young woman and of course without the excellent Hajdi's struklji it wouldn't do. Descent to Kropa nicely arranged, flowers on windows, one part full of hydrangeas. We returned past Jamnik, the church festively decorated awaiting the wedding... fairy-tale.
