Yesterday we cycled from Bohinjska Bistrica to Voje and had nice views on Bohinj-Tolmin Alps. As usual from the valley I can quickly mix up peak names so I ask for help in naming them. And also: on the slope of Studor above Stara Fužina I photographed number 200. Maybe someone knows something about it?

This time also a photo and question: What does the number in the wall above Stara Fužina mean?

Regarding the number I don't know, but I can name the peaks of Lower Bohinj Mountains.

Today I received a response from Mr. Janez Rozman regarding the inscription in the wall, which reads:
"Predel or the rock where the inscription "200" is, locals call Konj.

The inscription is over 44 years old. It was made in 1978 in the week before the opening of the monument to the first ascenders to Triglav - the four brave men at Ribčev laz.

The idea for the inscription came from the ranks of GRS Bohinj members, the performers were then young and promising Bohinj rescuers and alpinists Pavel Odar and Matej Šurc. The latter died fatally two years later on a winter ascent over the north face of Triglav - Dolga nemška smer.

The execution of the inscription itself was technically demanding. Odar climbed to the place where the inscription is "free", set up a belay station, and first drew the number and then painted it. It was difficult to judge the appropriate size of the numbers so that the inscription would be visible from the valley. Šurc took care of that part of the job, directing Odar via radio connection from the valley.

Diagonally above the inscription is a crack that Odar later also climbed - visible on the picture."

I thank him again for the explanation.

I have one interesting question. Does anyone recognize the hills in the background, and approximately from where this picture was taken. Should be somewhere where the Soča front was. lp

Maybe it's the peak at 1717. There on Christmas Eve 1915 during heavy snowfall, storm and minus 25 degrees an avalanche pulled an Austro-Hungarian unit into the depths. White death claimed 58 men. Over 40 more were physically injured. The description was written by one of the survivors. Sadly the injured died later. Last year we hiked there from Planina Zagreben. But it's not said that I'm right. Even today remains of walls are visible under the peak and quite some tools are still there.

It doesn't look like our Julians to me - maybe Naborjetske mountains. Can't identify the mountain behind, let alone the spot from where it was taken.

On europeana.eu web archive this picture is stored under name "On the slope of Ghisnitz". If this title holds, of course I don't know.

If I processed all links right, it's alternative name for Monte Ghisniz in Carnics, on wikipedia this mountain is noted as Gozdec, same says Planinski vestnik from 1908:

After some research I found out. The photo is taken from the slope of Monte Ghisniz, near Monte Schinauza. Mountains in background are west of Montaž. Thanks everyone for help.

And as an interesting fact, pathless summits hiked this year in the Kanin mountain range Vratni vrh, Plešivec and Jelenk. Snow-covered. Seen yesterday. And the ridge from Stol to Breški Jalovec.
In the background are Črnelske špice. In front Vratni vrh, Plešivec and Jelenk.1
the ridge is long all the way to Breški Jalovec.2
Rombon is also snow-covered.3
