With a tent in the mountains

Hello, I'm interested in how it's done here regarding sleeping in a tent in the mountains. This year I'd like to try sleeping once there under Grintavec, first day climb to it then sleep in tent, second day to Skuta and back to valley. I know there's bivouac under Grintavec nearby but it's more for the experience, does anyone know the rules? Thanks

But now I'm not dragging a tent into the hills anymore. On a nice summer night, you can nicely sleep on the grass with a sleeping bag without tent.

Well you have a point but that's really what interests me how it is with that.

Wait, this is really a bit wild, isn't this by chance a photomontage?

There could be a problem in Triglav National Park. Across Europe camping in mountains is variably allowed. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. France has an interesting rule for example: bivouacking allowed, camping prohibited. Bivouacking counts as one night from sunset to sunrise, anything longer is camping.

Yeah, nothing to it, the Czechs would say. One night I'll sleep up there between the bivouac under Grintavec and Mlinarsko sedlo, so far from the path, probably no problem.

Two years ago I read the book V zakrpanih gojzarjih by Matjaž Klemše. In it Matjaž describes a path on the transversal. Where possible, he slept in a tent, I think only in TNP it's not allowed. Read it, I recommend! Maybe you'll find some useful advice.

Whether you bother carrying a tent with you... Once again, I think it's much nicer to sleep in the open. With a normal sleeping bag in summer months you can nicely spend the night under the open sky. Even under Grintavec there are some rock enclosures that can protect you from wind. Anyway, I hope this "Czechism" won't spread.... It feels a bit silly... you have Kokrško sedlo, Bivak pod Grintavcem, Bivak pod Skuto... still you need a tent....

They say it's not allowed to pitch a tent in TNP?! And who is then that official who has the authority to chase you away or issue a fine?

Supervisors, yes. Most often we see them e.g. at Bohinj Lake, where they drive their Jeeps along the lakeside road. But that's rare, mostly in summer. I've seen them without a vehicle on Pokljuka, where they were checking mushroom pickers' baskets. At night I doubt they wander around, nor early in the morning or late in the evening. Anyway, it's like in many, if not all, European countries: forcing people to stay in often expensive apartments of all kinds. Which isn't wrong and also supports the local community, but I've slept like this many times all over Slovenia and regardless of the weather, waking up in a tent beats waking up in built structures. At least for me. Of secondary importance, but most important for most people, are financial concerns. Anyway, when you wake up with a tent anywhere, quickly pack it into your backpack and go, or at least don't give the impression that you just woke up in it.

Anyway, wardens are useful for preventing the defiling of nature, but in this case it's better if there are none.

In this case it's better that they are - at least regarding TNP. Certain marked trails are already abnormally overloaded anyway, and I somehow can't imagine what it would look like if folks could calmly camp in the Valley of the Seven...

All who are ready to sleep in huts aren't ready to sleep in tents too, at least not in such numbers. Anyway, the Valley of the Seven is too well-known to tourists; I meant some lonely corner of Pokljuka forest.

Hammocks are meant for afternoon siestas and dozing. For nights in the hammock due to its own shape prepare for pains in lower back and limbs. Surely the product isn't meant for serious camping... tested.
