Work in a mountain hut

Hello!

During the summer season I would really like to help in one of the mountain huts, so I'm turning to you if you perhaps know where I can apply or if somewhere they need someone for any kind of help? I would gladly stay in the mountains over the summer.nasmeh

As far as I know, it's a bit late for this year's applications. Call the mountaineering societies. Maybe you'll find something. Good luckvelik nasmeh

On Vremenščica they're looking for a cheesemaker. Maybe they've already found one.

Hello,

a colleague wants to work over the summer in the mountains at some mountain hut. He's ready to take on any job. He's also used to physical work.
If anyone happens to know where help is needed, I'll be happy for any information.

Best, Jure

Me too, I'm interested in such work. I already expressed interest in another thread, but there was no response. I'm interested in Pohorje, Karavanke, and northern and northeastern Slovenia.

On the PZS pages a call was recently published. Otherwise - call or write to the PDs that are hut custodians, and offer yourself. Don't wait for someone to offer you something, right? cool

PD Jesenice is looking for workers for Tičarjev dom on Vršič
http://www.pzs.si/novice.php?pid=6708

Within PZS there is also the Economic Commission that deals with managing mountain huts. Maybe they can advise you how individual PDs seek collaborators for their mountain facilities.

Have you thought about working as a shepherd? Sometimes it's easier to work with animals than with people....a little joke. For such work, someone from the Agricultural and Forestry Institute Kranj, Tolmin, Postojna .... could advise you. Also check the web for contacts of pasture communities.

And have you janji1 already sent a private message and asked if the job position is still open?

Possible, your future ward1

Thanks for all the useful info irina. Yes, what you wrote about animals and people holds like it's nailed down, and not just sometimes, unfortunately it's already a rule and not an exception that it's easier to work with animals or find a common language than with peoplevelik nasmehnasmehmežikanjejezen

Anyway, this Tičarjev dom on Vršič is a bit out of reach for me, but I'll call and inquire anyway.

Thanks again and best regards.

How is it out of reach? You won't walk to "shift" every day. Count on work in huts starting around May-June and ending in September. There you'll be at home over the summer. Working hours in the hut are 10/12 hours a day, 7 days a week, no "free" days to stroll to the valley and back.
Shepherds have a somewhat less intense schedule, but during the season they don't go home either.

Hello!
I'm a student. I like going to the mountains, I'm thinking of spending this summer in one of the mountain huts (of course, working). I agree that such work is strenuous, but at the same time also interesting and probably unforgettable. If anyone knows where they need someone, please let me know. Of course summer months are suitable. Katja

I'm interested if anyone has information about work in mountain huts, alpine pastures or various mountaineering societies over the summer. I believe it's a bit late already, but time slipped away during studies. Otherwise, a few months ago I sent emails to quite a few mountaineering societies, but from most (a couple of bright exceptions) I didn't get a reply, so I decided to ask here too. I'm used to hard work and not picky.

I'd be happy for any information nasmeh

Hello!

Does anyone perhaps know if by chance some mountain hut is looking for someone for serving, cleaning etc...

I could work the whole August (can start right away) until the start of school in September (in September and later I could easily do whole weekends, meaning from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening), if someone needs me. velik nasmeh

I know I'm late! but I had personal problems and can look for work only now.

Otherwise I'm a high school student, going into 4th year. I'm hardworking, honest and reliable.

Have a nice day nasmeh

In my humble opinion, mentioning that you had personal problems is not exactly appropriate in job applications.eek More appropriate would be to mention work experience, specify the type of school you attend etc.
I suggest you contact hut keepers or mountaineering societies.
