Youtubers in the mountains and

I've thrown a bone to chew on, I'm interested in what others think about this topic. Or am I really so "old-school" that I no longer understand these modern times at all.eek

Anyway, for some time I've been noticing that almost like mushrooms after rain, various so-called influencers are springing up,zavijanje z očmi who film their hikes in the mountains, with obligatory overnight stay either on top of the mountain (of course also in TNP) or just anywhere in the forest. They also break some firewood, light a fire, fry a piece of meat etc., next day they continue. Two specimens of this new species in the picture below. With this I always wonder again if these people even have permission from the forest owner for such activities. Is "camping" anywhere really allowed, even in TNP on mountain tops? zmeden
And as it seems such videos "sell well", so there are more and more of these »jun(BED)aks«.

Ah, maybe only I »don't get it«, I'll go sit back in the corner...velik nasmeh

Several years ago there was some kind of scandal because two (experienced alpinists) slept on Rjavina:

If someone does it for their soul and shares it only with their closest ones or even not that, then I have nothing against it (such a person doesn't do monkey business either (photo with fire). But if the main purpose is the biggest possible digital footprint, then absolutely against. Sadly, as I've written a hundred times... Our officials are turning our mountains into Disneyland, chasing us "old-timers" away because we're not capitalistically interesting enough. To all "influencers" reading this... Your need to be important makes me want to puke. Even in influencer language "
Calm down a bit, because we're all going to die sooner or later" Amen! I'm passing the bone to gnaw on mežikanje

As Daaam and the previous one writes, I completely agree with him. On one hand I'm glad we've hiked most of our peaks.
It doesn't pull me anymore to these nice mountains of ours, maybe some solitary path that's just right for disconnecting from the ... world.
Otherwise plans across the border.nasmeh
Pure foolishness if you sleep on top of Kanjavec, why should everyone know, ... poor folks who post things just to get confirmation they're something special and likes, think about it in your soul. eekeekeek

A few days ago I read this thought in a very interesting book:
"Climb the mountain so you can see the world and not so the world can see you!"

Beautiful thought-, but in today's time our youth doesn't even understand what it means at all.

I however understand much better those who post this for money or even live off these posts, than those who do it just for "fame". So that neighbors and colleagues see how they climbed Triglav and how photogenic they are with ice axe in hand.

Those who sleep outdoors are trying to get used to conditions when they'll have to go to mountains by public transport.
That by the fire is probably dancing. nasmeh

If someone makes content that's interesting to people and earns something from it, I really don't see a problem. He gets something from it and viewers, the mountain won't collapse if someone sleeps on it.

If someone does it because they enjoy self-promotion, I still don't see a problem, just less likely I'll watch it because such behavior annoys me. But not all youtubers are like that. Andraž Egart for example really doesn't seem like he's trying to be a star, which in my opinion is one reason why his channel is successful.

Eh, what to say. Things are relative. Good 8 billion of us on this world and there's always (too) much of everything, so there will be more and more of such and similar things. Still better that such posts are popular than e.g. someone playing some video game, millions staring - what to say to that? Here at least it promotes being in nature, if nothing else.

Whoever it bothers, don't watch. If I go into details, the above mentioned vlog author has become really unbearable to me, so I don't watch him anymore. But he has crowds of fans around 10-18 years old.nasmeh

As asdf said, not all youtubers are like that. I also gladly watch Andraž. There are quality contents, even such that can bring closer the essence of mountaineering and calm your soul on rainy evenings.

E.g. the following - recommend watching in silence:

What bothers me more than wanting to be influential and famous is that such posts trigger an avalanche of imitators. And suddenly the mountains will be full of sleeping bags, frying eggs and brewing coffee on summits at sunrises. Once again, if you do it for yourself and don't encourage others to imitate you then I have nothing against it.

Since we're just on this. Say Ciril Jazbec, photographer I generally respect a lot, on the FB page "National Geographic Adventure" 9.9 million likes added a pic of camping under Košuta. What do you think. Of course everyone's excited! and by the way it's a really nice pic, but when the avalanche releases it's the end! He'll whine to us later that the main problem was the height of the parking lot cool

Similar to how you can't be "just a little arrogant" (either you are or you're not), you can't participate just a little in the digital sweetening of nature by reading portals and at the same time turn up your nose because others do it too. Between a photo of camping and photos of crossings e.g. on Matkovi Kopi there's less difference than you'd think at first glance (if no controversial practices are shown), even if one fits us better than the other. The possibility that visits multiply by 10 lurks in the background for both.
This digital uncovering of everything mountainous has started to bother me a bit too much, so I found solace in partial disconnection from the internet, a bit also in other sports. I recommend both. velik nasmeh

I really don't know what's so beautiful about this picture, it's just as "beautiful" as the first picture in this thread. I understand there would be two chamois/ibex on the picture, but two plastic tents into which he stuck batteries. Ugh, that's the beauty of nature. zavijanje z očmi

Based on the first description, I'm curious what the reaction of such individuals would be if someone came to his plot to light up a bit and shake the "afne".

Last time I read an old debate...there, 15+ years ago, so more from the beginnings of hribi.net operation. It went something like "now things have gone over all limits", because there was a description of Mihelič's route to Pihavec.
Well, time obviously didn't stop then, there are always new limits and things that go over velik nasmeh

And yes, I admit, this "influencing" and encouraging camping in TNP gets on my nerves. But on the other hand...as long as I post conditions and descriptions of paths/offpaths (and I try to stick mainly to those two...ok, sometimes there's some current political thought in betweenvelik nasmeh), do I have the right to condemn influencers? As @n3jc wrote..."there's not such a big difference". Whether we admit it or not. zadrega

Everything depends on what conscience threshold a person holds who does anything. This applies generally to all everyday situations in which an individual finds himself, or pushes himself there. Pure psychology.

I'd bet that decades ago people were horrified by the same things – only back then hikers who started going to the mountains got on their nerves.

A few years ago I bought Bogdan Kladnik's book and then visited every waterfall he photographed, trying to make similar pictures. In my opinion this is no different from today when people post videos on YouTube – the difference is only that the medium was different back then. Besides, we were quite closed within the country, so foreigners didn't come to us en masse, meaning there wasn't such crowds in the mountains.

I also remember that the path from Vrata to Kredarica in the years when I started going to Triglav was covered with various beer cans. One day in very dense fog on the way from Kredarica I momentarily lost direction, since you couldn't see from one mark to another, so I oriented myself by those cans. This just confirms that people littered years ago too, so I don't think it makes sense to be too horrified by today's influencers who at least clean up after themselves.

I don't know how it is in neighboring countries, but in the USA camping is allowed even in national parks as long as you don't camp on private property (unless you have permission). All these restrictions on camping in nature seem exaggerated to me – after all, there aren't many people who choose that way of staying in the mountains, except maybe foreigners who are used to it from home.

We see that some would like to have restaurant-level offerings in mountain huts, so the idea of sleeping in tents is not close to them at all. Anyway, those who want to camp already do it – only they mostly make sure they're not noticed. I myself sometimes really like to camp because it's an interesting experience. I always make sure I'm not noticeable and clean up thoroughly after myself so you can't even see that someone camped there.

Sometimes there were even more colorful stories but we invited each other to the mountains. Shared rides, helped each other, even lent gear on the tour, ...And today except collecting clicks who is more powdered, made up, self-absorbed from them there's nothing else. But no problem says darinka, after many years again alone I go to the mountains.

This last comment is completely off. Nonsense has been happening in the mountains since forever. From releasing fish into Double Lake, ski competitions on the glacier under Škuta, senseless forest cuttings and building forest roads in many places to the destruction of the Krn Mountains during the war. Then the main problem is some youtubers who enjoy walking in the mountains and film it. Probably with this they attract many from younger generations to the mountains, which are anyway often unfairly called crazy, spoiled, always on phones... In my opinion someone who pushes through some offpath alone (and thereby breaks bushes, tramples grass and plants, maybe even builds a cairn) does no less damage than someone who fries eggs in the morning on the summit after a night spent there. Anyway, nowadays due to social networks and internet it's much easier to follow such behavior and consequently condemn it. I agree that lately there are (too) many mountain visitors, but I see this mainly as a consequence of higher living standards and general tourism promotion, rather than some influencers. The solution to unpreparedness and numerous accidents can only be prevented by hefty fines, which for some reason we still avoid somehow.

The world is constantly changing and novelties bring a lot of useful things too, even in the mountaineering world. Maybe someone who refuses to keep up with the times sees everything black.
