If they put a barrier people can't go up. Consequently no fines, no cash. They're not stupid.

I don't get why now you can't park at the barrier like for many years before? It's true the parking lot there is small and consequently they park a bit awkwardly blocking access supposedly for locals, but no one arranges the existing parking lot because easiest is to collect fines and also most profitable. And don't bullshit, for example on return from Triglav the gravel drags like chicken guts.

At Zapornica there's a water protection area, water source, water supply. They fear pollution and that's why they moved the parking lot lower in the valley.

This year I was twice in Zadnjica, both times parked at the parking lot, both times at least five cars passed me wrapping me in a cloud of dust (and I went there to breathe fresh air!) At the barrier about 20 cars parked, none had any ticket on wipers, true I was both times during the week, maybe they "cash in" only on weekends? Now they put up a no entry for all traffic and road work sign at the end of the parking lot, as far as I saw they started building a small HE. (something on this under the described tour Zadnjica-Kriški podi)

I don't know why abroad (Italy, Austria) there's never a problem with parking. Just as it's written for starting points here e.g. on the portal or elsewhere (probably already 4-5 years ago) it's still the same today. No problems anywhere. Always park neatly where it's written. Usually free, otherwise it's already written on the net that you have to pay. Only here do we have to constantly inform ourselves via the net: there they put up some sign, there you can park only on P parking lots, god forbid on the road even if it doesn't bother anyone, there they introduced parking fees, there they put wheel clamps (which they only still do on the Balkans)... That's because here every local sheriff can invent whatever he wants, because the municipality has too little profit from tourists, they want to get it this way,... In short everyone can do what they want, with such banal things as parking and also things more important for the state, society and economy. And that's exactly why this country sinks deeper into shit day by day!

Maybe because they are as drivers more cultured than Slovenes and park as it should be done. And when the parking lot is full it's full and you find another parking. Among us all park lengthwise and crosswise without order. And it applies everywhere not only in hills. Unfortunately the folklore from roads shows also on parkings. So I often have the feeling that wardens are still not grumpy enough.

What, a good road needs to be extended to Kredarica and nice toll in Mangart style then business. We'll see how many will go on foot to Kredarica. Otherwise it more interests me if I can with bike past prohibition sign and to end of Zadnjica to bridge I think.

GregorC: The problem is exactly that they fine mainly those who park only formally wrong (or not even that e.g. Bohinj) those who really park blocking traffic or others parking or something else mostly get away without fine. And various setting parking loops, not posting no-parking on visible places (Bohinj, TNP), placing as ambiguous, well hidden signs as possible,... all with one purpose to cash as many fines as possible. That's Balkan! Park in Austria where you shouldn't but if you don't block anyone. OK maybe you'll get fine, I don't say no, mostly not though, because there authorities have other tasks than walk around and fine just to cash. And park so you block someone or cause other mess - you'll get fine immediately. With us it's exactly opposite and that's what's wrong.

They write fines, verified, but maybe really only weekends when increased crowd (in Trenta I was whole week). It's about nice loop when you don't know how and what, if you're not bureaucratic precise bending back before all paragraphs. At valley start sign no parking and there big parking. Nice and right. But road is passable to ramp where we're used to park all years since ramp exists. And there of course still park. None of them had ticket, EXCEPT those who parked "by roadway" if you imagine, so those inside were OK for warden, others at edge between road and stream bed were blocking traffic (though they didn't at all). Probably written in paragraph on payment slip. Sad if TNP supervisor for Zadnjica earns salary from budget in such miserable way that writes few fines and drives himself with official SUV 3x day from start to end of valley, and on way chats with acquaintances from Bovec area who use road themselves happily on their mountain trips and brag about it around. If ramp already, should put it at beginning and no one except him and friends wouldn't drive through valley. But tickets would stay unsold and norms not reached

If at start sign and of course well visible and also parking then no problem. It's true that usually abroad barrier where you can go by car. And no problems! With us where problem must exist (if not invent some fictive and present it to naive little Slovenians as important), so certain people (who otherwise could do something more useful for society) live from it and that's why no authority interested to remove it - it's just so. System supports those who profit from fictive problems, supports also those who ...well see last sentence two my posts back.

There is a sign and it's well visible. For cultured people that's completely sufficient, for others sometimes even a ramp is too little

@Zebdi: But then they still drive further from the ramp? How can that be?

Yes, further from the ramp a few locals who live there and weekenders and their friends and friends of friends drive, mostly with LJ plates, so the road to the end is quite busy.

@VanSims: this didn't fly directly to Zadnjica, but I've already seen, yeah, some hero managed to bypass the lowered ramp.
