Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Jesenice motorway we turn onto the Lipce exit and continue on the road towards Jesenice. When we reach the traffic-light intersection where we join the old road, we continue right towards Žirovnica. We follow this road only briefly, since at the next somewhat larger intersection (traffic light) we continue left towards Javorniški Rovt. The road then passes through an underpass (railway) and turns left (right Koroška Bela). We follow the road that begins to ascend steeply higher up towards Javorniški Rovt. The road leads us past the Pristava house (the house is slightly above the road) and after the house we reach the next (smaller) intersection where we turn right. We then continue on the gravel road all the way to Križovec, which we recognize by the intersection of several roads (there are a few small parking areas and a cross at the intersection).
Route description:
From Križovec we continue past the cross along the road towards Pusti Rovt. At the beginning the road leads us past a barrier and then ascends gently through the forest. After about 15 minutes of walking it turns left and brings us out of the forest to the lower edge of Pusti Rovt. We continue along the road to which a marked path from Dom Pristava on Javorniški Rovt joins from the right; after a few dozen steps this path leads us to the shepherd's hut on Pusti Rovt.
From the shepherd's hut we continue along the road which in the upper part of Pusti Rovt turns right into the forest. A little further on we reach a marked junction where we continue slightly right (left Golica) on a moderately steep path.
Just a few steps further we reach a newer forest road and follow it to the right (straight ahead the old marked path and Sedlo Kočna continue).
The road later crosses the slopes of Struška, over which we ascend transversely to the right. The path first leads through forest, then higher across a scenic, avalanche-prone slope. The gradient eases higher up and we ascend through the last belt of dense forest to Belska planina or Svečica, where a mountain shepherd's hut stands and from where a wonderful view opens.
Križovec - Pusti Rovt 0:15, Pusti Rovt - turn-off for Struška 0:10, turn-off for Struška - Belska planina 0:55.

Discussion about the trip Križovec - Belska planina (Svečica) (by road)

Today I was up there, dog weather, cold, wind, snow,.. Since last year the hut has been renovated, almost fairy-tale like. I really didn't expect such outdoor luxury! The road from Križevec is rutted by ski tourers. The road is drivable by car to Kreževec, as the forestry company maintains it for timber extraction.

Yesterday we cut it towards Svečica. There was about 60 cm of snow. We left the car (due to rear-wheel drive) a bit further from Pristava, a car with three skiers overtook us, whom we later met in Pusti Rovt and continued the path together. It was obviously possible to drive to Križovec with a front-wheel drive car without chains. The road was plowed but then covered with about 5-7 cm snow blanket. About 500 m from Križovec we plunged into pristine white, me with snowshoes, colleague with touring skis, past the first barrier through Pusti Rovt, past the second barrier. There the other three "wait". Together we go along the road, occasionally changing at the front of the column. Of course, me with snowshoes always last. To Svečica it took us 2 hours 40 min. We decided not to continue to the summit itself due to dense glaring fog. After a short break we return, skiers down the gully towards Pusti Rovt, I with snowshoes plod back the same way. To Pusti Rovt it took 45 min, to Pristava another good 30 min walk. Only the sun was missing, otherwise wonderful.

Inhospitality in the hut on Belska planina. On August 12, 24, I went from Stol to Golica. By unfortunate coincidence, I ran out of water shortly before the hut on Belska planina. When I arrived at the hut, I asked if it was possible to get or buy some water to have until the hut below Golica. The arrogant reply of the plump lady cooling her ass in the shade was: WE BRING OUR OWN WATER UP HERE!! Such a reply and unwillingness to help in the mountains only shows the attitude of some who have their asses full of everything. They should be ashamed to the bottom of their hearts, also the couple watching nearby, like what are you even looking for here. Well, with a bit more effort I still reached Golica, where I thoroughly quenched my thirst. I must also say that from Belska planina to the hut on Golica it's a good two hours walk. Still, I must thank the lady for the "hospitality", but all others stay far away from the hut on Belska planina.

I understand the anger and disappointment, but some expressions you used do you no credit.

You get used to not even asking anymore, because then you get the same kind of response as you experienced srečko55. If you were running out of water, why didn't you descend.

Really inappropriate reaction to the response to the request for water. I don't understand what need some people have for fluids in the mountains. If you have 1.5 to 2 liters of fluid with you, it should be enough for the trip. Without that, you probably don't go hiking. If there's a spring available, even better. But that should just be a reserve. Take 2 l of water with you and not other drinks that don't quench thirst. If that's not enough, then you need to think about better physical fitness.

Well, other drinks quench thirst very well, they also replace what the body needs and loses while sweating. The amount of required fluid or drink varies from person to person, you can't just judge offhand how much others need ...

Maybe I don't understand it, but you could still buy and drink something there, so I have nothing bad to say about this mountain hut. As for the amount of water drunk, it really depends on the individual, don't talk about some physical fitness in connection with water. My husband needs quite a bit less fluid compared to me. Running out of water, we've experienced what that means. Better to have more with you than too little. Regards!

There is a shepherd's hut on Belska planina. Anyone who kindly asks for water gets it, but it's true that the tap water is not drinkable. The gentleman has already shown his culture and friendliness with what was written. Arrogance doesn't belong in the mountain pasture.
